hey i know its been four years but if anyone is reading this, this game has improved massively since this video. It's still not technically official final release but it's pretty good. It has multiplayer now so you can play with your friends (not sure the max limit but its probably 4) and it's a huge map with a ton of shit to explore. You also have the option of adjusting the difficulty of the cannibals and yes, you can disable them entirely if you just wanna play an island survival simulator.

1) I wish I had a PC to play the updated version of this 2) I'm happy they've gotten to a point of financial stability, but God if I don't miss the fellas doing video game stuff. These two plus the current AMAZING @Polygon staff would be unstoppable.

Don't Starve has camping vibes, and while there are still nasties around it's a lot more chill and easy to survive. Not similar graphically, though.

Watching a lot of these videos is like development whiplash lol it's wild. It doesn't feel like it's been a little over 8 years since the Forest came out and yet here we are! The game is so different (better!) now from what Griff is playing it's nuts!

there's a bar in Yukon that has a drink with a pickled toe in it. it's called the Sourtoe Cocktail and you have to touch the toe to your lips when you drink it. but then someone stole the toe, so they had to source new human toes.
