@Kotton - If you didn't figure it out already, you can go into the small caves and look on the walls for Iron Ore Deposits. Take mud from the water to unlock the bricks and build a forge and charcoal furnace, you can make metal tools and blades. also you can use Bones with rope and banana leaves from the Tapirs to make Bone Armor until you unlock metal armor crafting. Really glad you're playing the game!

i count myself as veteran as I have almost 3000 hours in this game and 2 very important tips. throw spear in jaguars head for insta kill and if not throw 2. throwing does a lot more damage than just stabbing. #2 you ran past black ants nest. always pick up some ants. they will help you with deep wounds like from jaguar. 1 ant for 1 deep wound and #3 always collect ash and make ash bandages and you never get infection.

You can choose to go night night about an hour without getting the worm friends. Basically sleep and wake asap.
