This is a game made by people who have been there since the beginning, long before games became mainstream and far more profitable than the music and movie industries combined. Decade-old reviews of games like Call of Duty often contain the same criticisms still present today, yet year over year, profits increase, creating a system grounded in stagnation and predatory practices. Corporations follow the numbers, and when iconic, groundbreaking games are not rewarded with massive sales and profits, they die out-regardless of their quality, ingenuity, creativity, or contribution. Let The Forever Winter serve as a reminder that not all is lost, and influential experiences can still exist when people with a shared vision work together.

Seeing Brando's face just before he tosses Chef's head in your lap, with matching quotes... well done! Here's another one: ''The machinist, the one they called Chef, was from New Orleans. He was wrapped too tight for Vietnam. Probably too tight for New Orleans.''

Thanks! I made an edited version of Apocalyps Now years ago with only the narration from Martin Sheen so I'm no stranger to the movie. Of course it was blocked immediately but I still reference the movie occasionally in my clips. The making of Apocalypse Now is also really worth watching! 'Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse' I think it's called. (like the book Heart of Darkness). ''Kurtz got off the boat. He split from the whole f*cking program. How did that happen? What did he see here that first tour?''

@@HiddenbyLeaves I remember seeing that documentary and thinking only Marlon Brando could've pulled that off. You actually spend what? 3 hours talking about, and building up to, someone and when you finally do see him, he not only doesn't disappoint but delivers something beyond imagining. During the documentary you actually hear Coppola complaining to his wife several times that he doesn't have an ending for the movie - that he wanted to paint Kurtz as some... Pimp, surrounded by women. It was actually Brando who objected to this and made the entire character his own from nothing. (as he refused to read the book initially) I also remember Coppola complaining that Brando asked for too much money. (He wanted an extra million or two, or something.) When you compare what Brando was paid for the Godfather and Apocalypse Now (even with inflation) to what some actors are paid today.. it's a disgrace. Supposedly, ''The Godfather: Brando's initial payment of $250,000 in 1972 would be about $1.69 million today. His total earnings, including the profit share of $2 million, would be around $13.52 million today. Apocalypse Now: Brando's payment of $3.5 million in 1979 would be roughly $15.08 million today. Robert Downey Jr > for Avengers: Endgame alone, Downey reportedly earned $75 million and across all MCU movies, it is estimated that Downey made over $435 million in total.'' ''All I wanted to do is fucking cook! I just wanted to learn to fucking cook, man!''

How is the state of the game at the moment? I haven't bought/played it yet as it's still in early access. So far the lore, atmosphere and music seem intriguing.

I'm going to refrain from being too specific here as it's always best to make up your own mind and I imagine there's a good chance many things will be adjusted. It's an inexpensive game, so if you agree with their statements, like the lore, music and atmosphere, I would definitely try it out. Up to you.

It's rough but very playable. Play the demo. It's free and you get a whole level. If you don't like the demo, you won't like the rest of the game.
