it works, sure, but it's not really any different from closing the original trade at a loss instead of hedging - you take the loss either in the open terminal with hedging or the closed terminal with closing the trade at a loss either way works

Stupid Question here. I deposit $1000 and let’s say the average leverage is 100. If everything goes against me and all leverage is in use. Isn’t it possible to end up with a balance that is HUGE more negative than zero? E.g. like negative $ 100.000 and the broker wants me to pay?

Can you tell us about how you are getting out in your live account ? In TV its merging the entry prices of all positions, but in MT every single trade stands alone. I assume when you have added up a lot, you close the farest trade in loss when their average is in profit, right ? So it is calculating P/L + Swaps ? Thanks for your work

Really enjoy your videos and approach. It has really changed my mindset in trading. This is the first time in a year and a half of learning that I am consistently profitable on a demo account. Still gaining experience before trading live funds. I know you mention this in your videos but I think it might be helpful to point out to everyone the patience that is required in drawdown. I am getting better at being patience, but it can still mess with your head being in drawdown for days or weeks. My trades always end up in profit or break even, but it takes getting used to. Thank you for making trading simple and changing my psychology towards trading!

Been loving the DCA stuff you've been sharing recently. About a week ago I started testing this approach on a small demo account for shits and giggles and this past week was able to grow the account roughly 8% trading about 8 major pairs on the 1hr with little to no analysis and no indicators (ive been staring at charts for over 2 yrs now so probably some intuition played into my decisions) Had a few recovery trades with some relatively gnarly drawdown along the way but still ended the week in profit. Funny thing is I used to avoid swing trading bc I thought it would be too slow and boring for me but ngl shit's fun haha. Also much less demanding & stressful than short TF intraday (which is what I'm used to) especially while trying to balance this with a full-time job. Def wanna keep playing with this and see how it plays out over a longer period of time.

Nice one Nick. That’s been my trading strategy for years. I use swing trading timeframes so you don’t want to add too soon. Also major and minor forex pairs only. Max two pairs at only one time. Max ten positions for each pair. I use overbought and oversold to go counter-trend. 0.01 lots per €1700 Partial hedging too which you don’t bother with which is fine.

thanks for sharing your experience. just a quick question, you said max 10 positions, what will you do if after 10 positions the price still goes against you? just waiting to reach back to your entries or do you trail your TP into negatives until it hits?
@BlackwaveFX
@BlackwaveFX 3 күн бұрын
@ it was the drop that occurred on the Sunday night after the mini-budget on September 23rd actually. I was long 12 positions of GBPCHF. Don’t recall the DD going into the weekend but on Sunday night the drop was significant. The difference between the high low that week was about 900 pips. SO, after that the maximum number of positions dropped from 12 to 10 and the position must be 20% hedged if I get to ten positions. Furthermore the remainder of the position gets hedged at a 25%DD. This would have saved the GBPCHF position which would have been back to breakeven within a week or two (if I recall).

i just blow the account. if the positions are sized appropriately, the worst thing a trader can do with DCA is close positions at loss - because the more they go against you, the more likely it is that price will reverse so i just trust the stats and let the metrics/probabilities play out

@pizdarijaable
@pizdarijaable 3 күн бұрын
@@ruanvandyk5481 i think that's not a good idea... mostly u'll trade a pair that is in some way "overextended" in one way.. so if you sell and buy at the same time and it goes in a way you predicted you just tp and out... but if you have another position in already extended market u'll have even bigger drawdown and more chances to blow account. In some cases ofc you'll benefit. But in 50% trades it'll just be a bigger drawdown. But Nick knows better so he might say something about it and answer your question.

for one, i would not do this with 1k. i would start with a minimum of 2k in the account. with a 2k deposit, here is all you need to know. trade every opportunity you want, using a 0.01 lot size. if you have leverage 1:50 or lower, don't be in more than 5 opportunities at once. if your leverage is 1:500 or similar, feel free trade every single opportunity at once. experiment with this on demo for 6-12 months, experience will teach you the rest, and experience will answer most of your questions

Accepting the reality that we're idiots is certainly one of the most important parts of learning how to trade. Once you accept you're an idiot that cannot predict the market, you can then work on building a system (like this one) which is idiot proof, that could work despite all our fallacies as human beings. How can we make a system that prepares for the worst possible outcome? That's when you might be successful at trading.

Sure, you might come out ahead by 1 unit 100 times but then you'll go behind by at least 100 units once. Is a 99% win rate that impressive when you consider that? That's how all martingales work, small wins a bunch of times and then a big loss one time. The problem is that they might not happen in that order, it could be the one big loss the very first time you do it. What happens when it's two or more big losses in close succession? Now you're going to start sweating because it will take a long time to dig out of that, if ever. I find it very doubtful that the horrendous spreads and overnight fees in forex could be beaten by a martingale system, it's not mathematically sound. It's roughly equivalent to martingaling American roulette, there's a huge house edge against you and it's just a matter of time until it grinds you down, though you could get lucky for a while at first.

For the Newbie if you are actually trading in the crypto space and you don't have a sound mentor. Then you are certainly going to get liquidated in 90% of your trades. Yeah that's sad truth. I remember when i just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 i ended up selling it because i have lost alot trading all by myself without a guide. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with $100k and I'm up with $732k in a short period of time. Thanks to Seren Wintersun.

its working well!!! i use the random gen with a take profit of 30pips (due to my small account size). The trick is when the trade goes against me i use all my knowledge and experience to pick the right area to dca in. normally larger timeframe channels. Thats the edge :)

@Jan-ChristianErfort
@Jan-ChristianErfort 2 күн бұрын
@@lookweihan199 on regulated broker you will have about a 30:1 leverage. Positions size would be 0.01 so thats 1000 units. 1000 units divided by 30 is 33.33 per trade required for margin. 1000 dollars to start with divided by 33.33 gives you about 30 trades to place. You just have to make sure, you are not trading all pairs and not too many. And if you are in 30 trades you basically have no room for drawdown. That means: start with a bigger account size or bigger leverage

If we put an invalidation zone or we decide to close everything after the 3th or 4th DCA trade which still looks more likely to go in drawdown wouldn't this prevent us from blowing the account and after a loss work our way up?

@NickShawnFX
@NickShawnFX 2 күн бұрын
whatever you have available. i only get 1:50 or less, so i can be in a few opportunities at once, but not very many. if you can get 1:500 leverage, then you could literally trade every single currency pair at the same time on a 2k account with 0.01 lots for each initial entry, and not run out of margin. i know this because i started the 5k demo account 2 weeks ago and just enter trades on every single FX major and minor pair at the same time to test it - and so far the account has grown $1,300 in close profit with a current open drawdown of -$500 let's see where it goes.

This guy is best. Makes those KZbinrs drawing 1000 lines on chart look like a fool 😅. And in reality, that's what trading is, no one knows what will happen atleast the retail with the data they have, so why not just say we are gambling when we are gambling rather than pretend "oh we are smart and can predict the markets" with lines drawn on chart.

They don't let you hold overnight usually, so no. Unless you use the 1-15min time frame, and I'm honestly not sure if it works in those situations. Worth testing. If you get caught DCAing wrong direction on a trend day you won't be able to turn it around into profit by days end, also some prop firms have rules about DCA
