This has just popped up on my feed (7 years after your post!!,) last year I came across them for the first time and made jelly (failed) and cheese !! I was lucky enough to get them from a Victorian Garden 👏👏👏 this year, they have allowed me to pick them from the tree, and I intend to try again !!! With your cheese, do you jar them up or do something else with them? Last year I had a very small quantity so made some cheeses , in moulds , then froze them ….it came out well….i had thought I could “dry the cheese out” and store them in a larder, but I think this may have been a misunderstanding . Best wishes Cathy ☺️

I live in The Medlars! It used to have an orchard or medlar trees but now just has a very old twisted one either side of the drive!

I have two young medlars that sprouted this year, after two years of germination. Very excited to grow them here in the United States.

I've heard about this fruit and I know of 1 tree in Battersea park in London. I volunteered for Thrive, the gardening charity. They are based all over London and locally take care of 4 gardens in battersea park. . I'm so excited by your post . I've tried Quince pear . Thank you

Living in Scotland the fruit size varies but we grow it in our Barrmill (North Ayrshire) community orchard and I make Medlar Cheese - lovely flavour.

Meddlers are a part of British heritage, although they are not 100% native to England as they were brought here by the romans, they still have a long history in this country and were an established part of British hedge rows throughout Georgian and Victorian times. it would be awesome to see meddlers make a come back as they are truly unique fruits in form and flavour.

funny how things work out, i became interested in meddlers over a decade ago now, back then it was hardly know by anyone today there are people making a viable business from the meddlars uniqueness. if anyone will knock you off your path it will be the people closest to you, the ones you love the most. This is why i am not willing to be a detrimental aspect of anyone's experience of life.
