The Forgotten Kiss Grunge Record...Carnival Of Souls (1997)

Sometime in 1995 Kiss started working on their follow up to their 1992 album Revenge. The plan was to go a more heavier, darker path into the grunge genre. The album would end up being Carnival Of Souls and it's one of the more forgotten Kiss records for the sure fact that this album released in 1997 despite Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons were currently back on tour in the make up with the original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. So why is Kiss's last unmasked record so forgotten and why did the band release it even though it was originally scrapped? Well let's talk about it.

I like your outlook on everything you said. Carnival is heavy as hell and has some of Paul and Gene's best vocals ever. I loved having Carnival and Psycho Circus around the same time and enjoyed both. I still listen to both today pretty much and both sound even better now in my opinion. Great episode

Like many of their albums, there are a few good, stand out tracks, but the rest of the album blows. I like Jungle, Rain, Master and Slave, and It Never Goes Away is o.k. but the rest of the album is bland and forgettable.
