This is a real masterpiece! When nobody thought Kiss could do Grunge they made their own statement with Carnival! Not only was it a different album but they were bold enough to go outside their comfort zone. Its just too bad they never toured for it had they planned the reunion tour a little differently.

I'll help Paul on this. When Destroyer came out he asked people what they thought of it. They said it was different. Okay Paul. Carnival Of Souls? It was different.

I have a bootleg version. It was given to me way before it actually came out. I was a little disappointed when I heard the final version and prefer the boot. I think it’s a great album, but there’s a lot of mixed feelings about it. Great video! Thanks bro!!

Great album and way more metal than grunge. The grunge label is what hurt it and it's not even accurate. "Childhood's End" is one of Gene's best songs ever. "Hate" "Rain" "Jungle" "Master & Slave" are all top notch songs

At the time the album wasn't really a surprise. Since 1983, KIss has just followed the trends. This is The Elder of the 2000's. The only songs I appreciate are "Master & Slave" and "I confess".

You read interviews with Paul when the Reunion first started, and he was lauding Carnival of Souls as the best album they had ever done.... and this was way before it was even released.

Almost Human & KISS Wednesday Rules!!🤘 I was a huge KISS fan growing up, however after Asylum I didn't really continue to follow new albums. Either way KISS in the 70's & 80's have given me awesome memories to look back on. Thanks, Paul, Gene, Ace, & Peter.🤘

Through out the 80s KISS tried to be glam metal but released 4 great albums until 1987-1989 where KISS got over exposed by MTV but the 90 s again same thing but less exposure when this album came out in 1997 they tried the grunge scene but its the first KISS album to have no promotional material no flim clips but a good album but my favourite songs from Carnival of Souls are 1.Rain 2.In the Mirror 3.Jungle. 4. I will be there this was played at my mother's funeral 5.Hate. 6.it never goes away 7. Master and Slave. 8. Seduction of the Innocent 9.I Confess. 10 Childhoods End. 11.I Walk Alone. 12.In My Head

I love the album....I think it's the heaviest kiss album ever, creatures is heavy but carnival is heavier....almost all kiss albums have filler tunes but I liked carnival

Why did KISS do a grunge album? Simple, they were chasing record sales. Smashing Pumpkins sales were massive. Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, were dominating rock radio. The sound KISS tried to emulate in the 80s and early 90s was now shunned

The grunge guys worshipped 70’s Kiss though. They hated anything from the eighties that resembled it, making them smug heroin addict hypocrites, but nevertheless that’s how it was. I think Gene wanted a harder edge and dug bands like The Melvins, who he played a few shows with. I think he rationalized it being like a dirty modern Hotter Than Hell. As for me, I like it more than Revenge in some ways. I usually hate the nineties sellout albums of veteran bands but Kiss actually did a decent job on this

I pretty much agree with Ralph ranking, but I would of put in my head at #6. I think the best non war paint album since like it up, because at least 50% kinda kicked ass, though 50% kinda sucked, but at least not 90% of sucked like all their other non war paint albums (not counting like it up). So inclusion, first & last non war paint albums are their best. Honestly, when I first heard album, I was like finally, not a bunch of glam garbage. Revenge was so disappointing, it's starts out with unholy, like fuck yeah!!! Then like 80s kiss, they couldn't help themselves, went back to recording a bunch of trash. So disappointing, so it was nice to see them take a page out of the unholy song during Carnival.

If there was no Reunion Tour, the album would have brought them rock bottom ( pum intended) . It was 1996. Grunge had nearly gone for 2 years. I am with you, Doc: I hate the Foo Fighters because they are so overrated.

In the Mirror, Jungle, Rain, Hate, It Never Goes Away, M&S are killer songs. But there's some ugly ass songs aswell like I Walk Alone, Seduction of The Innocent and Childhood's End

Hated it refused to listen to this piece of crap Alice In Chains wannabe album for 10-15 years. Then somewhere in the mid 2000’s I started listening and liking a few songs here and there. Now I love it!!! The album has a cool heavy vibe. One of the last albums Paul sounds AMAZING . Favorites Hate Rain Master & Slave Jungle It Never Goes Away
