'Carnival of Souls' is a fantastic album. I've always loved it. Yes, it has grunge elements. That said, it still sounds like KISS. If you listen to Revenge and follow it up with this album as intended, you'll see a natural progression toward this darker sound. Revenge was the beginning. I didn't realize it did as well as it did on the charts. Just imagine how well it would have done if it actually had the support of the label behind it? By the time this was released, KISS was already doing the reunion tour, so nobody really cared about this. Rumour has it that it was actually Eric Singer that leaked it. Honestly, it may have been one of the first internet leaks ever. I downloaded every song using my 14.4k modem. I believe the leak forced the record company to release it. Though I'm glad we got it, I still wish things had gone down differently. This album deserved better, imo.

I emailed the Cincinnati Bengals and suggested they play IN THE THE JUNGLE during a game. They did play it at halftime during the Bengals chargers playoff games few years ago

Been a member of the KISS army for 30 years, and I loved carnival of souls. One of their most underrated albums. It always reminded me of creatures of the night, which is also underrated. KISS is actually good, dude- people just don't realize because they see the makeup and hear Rock n Roll all Nite, and they think that's it. I would suggest their unplugged set to anyone, one of their best performances. No bombs, no blood, no makeup- and they frigging rocked. ❤🤘💋😘

Eric singer once talked about carnival souls and said going in and recording it we were focused on still being kiss but with some darker lyrics he said they weren't trying to be grunge but they did want a darker heavier kiss and some of the lyrics were grunge like.

Kiss you ever notice actually their best songs they never can perform live maybe it's the singing the best lineup era was definitely Bruce kulick Eric Carr Gene Simmons Paul Stanley starting off with asylum definitely their best lineup when I took the makeup off and got her a car that's the best they ever sounded

This album was just a darker progression of revenge Gene and Paul never got to rework some of the lyrics and music to it when they bailed on it it was an unfinished album Bruce kulick finished up the album even playing bass on two or three of the songs that Gene did not finish. I love it it's a heavy dark album if kiss would have tour behind it I think it could at least went gold some of Kiss best records and heaviest albums didn't go platinum like creatures and revenge. The playing on carnival of souls was top notch it was like listening to a hungry band in their thirties if you listen to revenge Kiss alive 3 carnival of souls you can see that Eric singer what's becoming one of the top hard rock drummers. Metal edge magazine voted the Kiss song jungle best hard rock song of the year. The average attendance at a kiss show from 83 to 95 was 4,000 to 8,000 people. From the reunion tour to the farewell tour the average attendance at a kiss show was 13,000 to 17,000 and some of those shows sold out so fast kiss had to do a second night. Paul and gene adapted again and got rich again

Kiss isn't grunge and they've never been grunge carnival of souls was just a dark heavy Kiss album just like there was no disco kiss.dynasty was just pop rock.

Carnival of Souls is only 1 of 2 KISS albums that I have never owned. Monster is the other. Have had no desire to own either, after sampling songs from them....which is saying something (IMO), since KISS has been my favorite band since 1976.

COS is a hilarious album because it's an obvious ripoff of the bands of that era, like 3 years Earlier. But that does not make it lame - in fact it makes it quite triumphant. Drop that D and give me 20! Great album by mistake almost. "seduction" makes me smile whenever i hear it. And oh yeah i learned how to play it@!@!

He Paul blatantly ripped off the I think it's gonna rain.. same lyrics different melody..the production is muddy.. it's hilarious starts off plugging into a guitar into an amp..that should tell u that they were going w the trends.. gene Toby wright said..he wanted to be Billy corgan lol 😂😂😂😂 this isn't in my collection only the first six seven record's..... it's a weak attempt N I actually would rather listen to the elder
