The Former Oughty Bridge Station in Oughtibridge Sheffield

I was one of the last people to catch a train at oughtibridge (ooterbridge) station. It had been closed for a year or so but the Manchester train made a special stop for our school trip. We went to Salford quays on the Manchester Ship Canal when that was still a working thing. Regards the steelworks train - it came along at 2am, I could hear it from my bedroom several times a week. Shame about the Woodhead line, loved travelling on that route.

Went through here with the inspection saloon about 10 years ago, so sad to see what at one time was Britain's most modern railway

Nice one. Yeah I find it hard to get my head around the amount of infrastructure and major stations like Sheffield victoria just erased. I wonder if anyone ever regrets mothballing it

There's been talk about reopening the line for the public with a hybrid tram/train. Would be good.

I agree. I don't know why we dont make more of our railway assets in sheffield.

would be ideal especially the tram system since they already extended it to retail park between rotherham & sheffield so why not add that one aswell

Great video on a long lost line, sadly missed. There was a rail tour not so long ago with a Class 60. Hopefully it can be used again before madness prevails and the track is taken up. Are you still on for the 30 August at the YWR Fimber?
