Really loved this video Gabi (and chad chad)! My wife and I are in our 40s. Our young kids invited us to play Fortnite with them a couple years ago. And now my wife and I play more than the kids do! We occasionally play squads as a family, or a couple of us will play duos. And just like you, we’re a zero build family. I think you’re absolutely right that this game has a much broader audience than the typical first-person shooter.

It's important to note that all the music integration over the last year or so has been thanks to the talent at Harmonix. They were the studio behind the Rock Band series, and they were bought by Epic in 2021. This is why I liked that game in season 1 and 2 but gave up. At the start, building was used as a secondary tactic to get one up in a fight. You'd maybe build one wall or slope to hide behind while shooting. But then it morphed into, as you said, you take a single shot at someone and they are instantly encased in an impenetrable fortress and you inevitably get killed. I don't have the time or will to practice enough to be able to do that, I'd rather just play something else

@@RaGiAn87 we get less new non collab skins, most of the lootpool is old weapons or collab weapons which are often reskins, they don’t do live events as often because they make collabs instead, they rarely make secret skins because they’re almost always collab skins, we get less unique battle pass skins because they’re replaced with collab skins. Rocket racing, Lego, and festival are edge cases.

Also, saying they don't make new and exciting and interesting staff is just plain false. Just look at the two seasons before, shit went down with crazy stuff. Who on their right mind will prefer to play as generic soldier #31 instead of John Wick???? But to each their own i guess, go buy your cowboy skin? Arctic spec ops? Ghillie suit? While im playing like Hulk, you do you. Also adding one new weapon for each type per season is enough, we dont need 20 new weapons per season. They all shoot bullets, its not that deep.

I actually worked in a company making fortnite game modes. it's horrible. epics tutorials are horrible, it's impossible to find tutorials on fortnites unreal engine, they have a whole different programming language (verse), not to mention unreal is so heavy, not every pc can take it. idk how these kids are doing it, they're amazing.

I dunked on Fortnite BR when it first released (hell, still do today tbh) but I was there playing with my uni buddies and having good times. I love you mentioned the fact that it’s not taking itself seriously like so many other “grey” gun games was why it caught on until today, because it totally is! At one point, I played through S1 on a 3rd gen i7 laptop barely running 20 FPS because it’s funnier when I’m double shotgunning a poor bloke while my laptop was getting an aneurysm. I promised myself I won’t commit to a single microtransaction again but when the Peter Griffin skin came out promises are meant to be broken after all. Epic may have their share of problems but this ain’t it. Thank you for reminding me to play this game again.

It's pretty crazy that Fortnite is turning 7 this year. Say what you will about it, but when looking at the decisions Fortnite has made over the years compared to other liveservice games, Fortnite is one of the only games that has put in the work to deserve to still be popular. Like, Warzone deleted every item players had bought for 3 years and just shrugged it off in a week! Fortnite has done a really good job of keeping the game fresh and interesting, and actually respecting their players

2 months ago I redownloaded Fortnite just to scratch my guitar hero itch after remembering Harmonix was purchased by Epic Games and that they were working on a music mode. Bought the guitar and everything. Had so much fun playing the one mode for literal hours. Then the next day a few days later I tried out Rocket Racing. Same thing happened, just addicted to the rank mode and no lifed it. I’ve gotten my best friend to play with me and we both dropped our previous game for Fortnite. I’m 31 years old and I like going home to have fun and not sweat online. I rarely even touch the battle royale mode. Fortnite is love. Fortnight is life.
