Rod Allen had such an unique voice when singing this song. Sadly missed but greatly remembered.

To those calling the current Fortunes lineup a tribute band, please remember that the original lineup had their hits over 50 years ago. Time marches on and none of us are exempt. The current band are the result of regular replacements added only as needed, and as such a proper continuity of sound from old to new is in place. Please listen to their new music. Rod would be proud of these lads.

No matter how you cut it, once an original member is replaced it becomes a cover band. I’ll never change my opinion on this.

I played ans sang in a covers band for years before getting back to playing blues, and this was one of my favourite songs from our set - the harmony vocals always made me tingle! Nice to see Bob Jackson still playing, I know him from his great keyboard work with Alan Ross on The Pit and The Pendulum.

In the sixties when bands like The Who, The Hollies, The Searchers, The fortunes, The Tremeloes, The Marmalade, Fleetwood Mac...(too many to list all)...lost a member, for what ever reason, they had to be replaced so that they could still play live, no session musicians or backing tapes used then, you had to perform your hits live as a band, over a period of time, as people leave the band you are left with maybe just one or just a couple of people that were in the original line up, it’s a shame but it happens. Unless a previous member owns the name or objects to it being used, bands carry on with that original name. Fleetwood Mac are a prime example of a successful band with several line up changes over the years. The Moody Blues carried on after Denny Laine left and again after Mike Pinder left, so have The Hollies, Marrilion, Foreigner, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, Queen and The Who, (the list goes on ) admittedly some more successful than others. Come right up to the present day and we have bands that carry on without replacements because they were vocalist, not instrument playing members. ie, Take That, Spice Girls, Westlife and Boyzone to name a few, Imagine the confusion if football clubs had to change the name of the club because original players aren’t on the pitch. Can you imagine ? It’s not ENGLAND without Bobby Moore or Manchester United without George best, etc, etc etc. The one thing that we can ALL Agree on is, that we love music and like to see it performed LIVE, replacements can change the sound of the band in some cases and it’s not always to our taste, Rest in peace all you artistes that have given us so much pleasure with your ability to write, record, sing and play. The show must go on, as they in the business.

Well Eddie, I was asked to join by Rod before he passed away and I've done my best to keep the band's legacy alive. And this year, 2021, we've had two hit singles. That's what Rod would have wanted. And I knew him. Eddie Mooney

Hi eddie, we new Rod as well. My wife Trish has followed Rod from the 60s, we travelled all over the country for years till Rod passed. We went to his funeral. We did come to see the fortunes a couple of times after Rod passed. Trish said it was not the same, my comment was nothing personal. When you speak to Bob, tell him eddie said hello..eddie liverpool.

@@eddieconnor8864 Its not the same. Rod had Charisma as well as a superb voice, this potato has zero charisma and the voice doesnt make it either. Oh yes why did you leave The Dakota's and dump them in the shit weeks after you joined them?? To run to The Fortunes? VERY unprofessional. Rod was talking to a lot of vocalists matey not just you.

Look you say that there's no original members in the band will Michael Smithson have been a member since the early 80s the guitar player. I know no members of The Fortunes Eddie bass player and Bob Jackson the keyboard player very well and they are great bunch of guys. When was Alan was ill he asked Eddie Mooney if you would like to take over you said yes I'm from one great band The dakotas to The Fortunes he became a member and since then we've been keeping The Fortunes name alive.
