Basically, God is the creator of everything and that includes the thoughts we have.

Just that. All thoughts, all things, all things that aren’t in existence are form Allah. And so we ask Allah to correct our hearts and thoughts and selves

@@----f Allah is in control of all things. But submission means making the choice to submit and ask for help from our Creator. Allah knows what we will choose. One can wish to be close to Allah but only Allah understands our interior selves and can bring us close to him. We cannot find him except by his direction, so to speak. Understand that we understand our behavior as movement in time and space, something Allah is not subject to. So we see the before and after or our lives and existence. And Allah sees it all and underhand if in all ways that simply cannot be explained.
