You would be hard pressed finding a fighter of todays era beating anyone of the Kings. And yes that’s Mayweather included. Not saying Mayweather couldn’t win (welterweight division), but he would be an immense underdog in these fights. Hearns lost to brawling styles, nobody really out boxed Hearns, hence why Hagler began aggressive, Leonard had troubles even losing the fight, and Duran ate the right hand. What’s crazy is if they all kept fighting each other, they probably would share a loss each. All the Kings within the given weight class had a 50/50 to beat the other.

He was a great fighter. But he wasn’t quite there. He got Duran but Duran had no business at super welterweight that was a touch too heavy. Roberto was best at lightweight while sugar ray was best at 147. Hence why their split at welterweight was so fascinated and such a good fight. And then such a beating when Ray let his ego go and just gave him a boxing lesson. I hated seeing Duran at welterweight. Even worse middleweight. Aka why him trying to lose that weight and cone back down after fighting a war to fight such a gifted welterweight who was a scientific anomaly at welterweight in Hearns was so bad to watch. Fact is Duran was the smallest of the kings and had to fight big to be relevant. Benitez was a fantastic jr middleweight. If he somehow got sugar to come up instead of fighting the naturally bigger kings In hesrns and Hagler that might have suited him better. So while I rate him slightly lower below them, I actually liked watching him more. Benitez vs Ray at jr middle weight I think Wilfred stops him tbh and that’s saying something
