Plus they assumed Jessica and Paul died when they went into the lethal sandstorm, the kind of storm that made them believe the south of Arrakis cannot be inhabited. Idk, I guess the writing could've been better. The Reverend Mother covering for Vlad makes sense, but it's not like the fatman has ever been shown to have any idea who Muad'Dib is.

All he did were good things for the fremen he certainly used them a bit but that's really it this why this movie was super underwhelming it would've been super interesting he Paul never gave a shit about the fremen and just completely uses them for his own will but that's not the case so how is he an anti hero he's literally the hero of the fremen in this film I understand he was written as an anti hero but that's not him here he's quite literally a textbook hero proves himself, rally's an army, defeats the harkonenns and the emperor definitely not an anti hero in this film
