I remember getting the first 3 and "His Name Was Jason" DVDs at good ole Blockbuster Video right around the time that the 2009 remake came out and being so excited to watch these. I didn't get 7 or 8, but got them down the line and they were my go to editions before the SF bluray set in 2020.

I actually first watched these films on VHS as a kid during the mid 90's, those were the dark ages to be a Friday the 13th fan. The VHS tapes that were available at that time to buy were in very poor EP quality put out by Gateway and the films always looked/sounded terrible.... if you didn't have a laserdisc player you were screwed. You could rent the original better quality SP tapes at video stores but buying them was barely an option back then, no Ebay and you had to rely on secondhand stores/pawn shops to get them. The 90's was just harder for physical media collecting so I wouldn't say the 90's was "the good ol' days" lol, and thankfully the DVD releases saved this series on home video. Friday the 13th fans don't realize how good they've got it now!

I don't have the ind releases, but I do have the same deluxe edition collection that you showed. also have the tin box set. those 2 are pretty much collection pieces that sit on my shelf. if a friend or someone wants to borrow any friday movies, ill loan out the crystal lake to manhattan box set. and for my own viewing pleasure I have the scream factory box set. I remember those deluxe dvds in stores but I just wasn't a collector at the time. cheers man. take care.

I had the old barebones DVDs. I got into the Friday movies before those deluxe ones came out. I had 3,4,5,6,7,8, can’t remember if I had X or not. But I’m sure if the deluxe ones were out back then my dad still would have picked the barebones DVDs cause they were cheaper and when your a kid you don’t really care about features too much you just want the movie. I remember when I picked part 3 I only chose it cause it had the picture of the girl in the shower on the back. I didn’t buy anymore until probably my last year of high school. I bought the dvd 4 pack of 1-4. Then whenever they re-released that 8 film collection I bought the DVD version cause for some reason we didn’t get the blu ray in Canada for a while.

Part 3 in 3D was phenomenal in the theater. Fyi, my sister got me in the theater at 5 years old and I turned out just fine😅.

The Final Chapter was the last one I saw in the original series too. I was so engaged by the whole story of Jimbo and Ted and the computer and everything that 13 year old me was legit sad when he got killed.

I still have all these DVD's.I still have my old VHS copies as well.I always thought it was weird that the Part III DVD had no special features. I assumed the 3D version was the special feature. But the Blu Ray version that came out at the same time( I didn't get a Blu Ray player and BD drive until the following year so I was still on DVD) did have special features and all the other DVD releases had special features. Part 3 is the only one missing them. I also have the big Scream Factory set from 2020.I actually got that during that Amazon sale back in Feb. I don't double dip very often even to jump up in formats unless it's from VHS to disk. So I was still using these DVD releases you spotlighted in this video for films 1-8. But $79.99 was too good a price for the Scream Factory set and I'm glad I upgraded but I'm not going to part with these older DVD releases(or my VHS copies).

i got mine when they released when they came out and they had the slip. I dont believe all the films were released at the same time. I remember i had to keep looking for the next films quite a while later. Mine came from walmart. Another release i'm very nostalgic for is the Child's Play 20th Anniversary Birthday Edition. I was excited to watch all the new special features. I made sure to get it the day it came out at Bestbuy.

It hurt to part with these from my collection earlier this year. I just needed the room in my house. I gave them to my mom though since she bought most of them for me when I was younger so at least they’re still around and not gone. These really are the most nostalgic releases of these. I’ll never forget finding most of them in a Big Lots at one time and begging my mom to pick them up for me in 7th or 8th grade.

I just got it too. I already had the Crystal Lake to Manhattan dvd set and the steelbook Blu-Ray collection. But my wife happened to see the deluxe edition collection at Walmart and got it for me. But instead of the folding case with the sleeves like CHH has, it has the standard plastic case with the various flip trays that hold the discs.

Hello Again Planet CHH forget to tell you my favorite special feature on the setbis the three pt Crystal Lake massacres revisited documentary . i really like how they talk about friday pts 4 - 6 like they really happen lol 😂 and i also own the collection on blu ray in three different versions too . i think i own very version of this set and very verson of friday the 13th on DVD and blu ray except one and thats the complete ten blu ray set . i hope to get it some Day .

The first one I bought for this collection was Jason Lives (the first I saw and my personal favorite) then I ended up getting the rest not only to collect then but also cause matching up with the rest instead of getting different versions. I hated the Looks of these cause I loved the VHS versions but now I have the nostalgia for them. I loved parts 4,5,6 having the segments about Tommy Jarvis in the Bonus features. And yeah, I was that idiot and threw the slips out too

The 1st dvd of the original Friday is a different cut of the film. Longer Annie death and shorter Kevin bacon death. It’s actually the best version of the movie. The longer Annie scene is more impactful and the shorter Kevin bacon scene makes the effect look less fake

Any fans should stop giving them money until they put out a new movie. Don’t buy any of the Jason universe stuff stop feeding the greed that killed Jason himself and that’s coming from Sean and Victor. We shouldn’t pay another penny towards anything they put out unless it’s a brand new movie.

I never liked slipcovers and I threw away a lot myself and now I kick myself in the ass from it and I even started throwing out slipcovers like the first three Sleepaway camps that was before Instagram and people gave a crap and people saw your shit it was just me in my room who gave a crap about it I didn't like the way it looked on the Shelf I'm so stupid
