I honestly thought this was an amazing looking 4k. I had a permanent smile the whole time. Honestly I saw the hair on Nancy's arm in the school scene. Just amazing. And the documentary was worth it by itself. A+ release for me. I know mid-level said it was just blah. NO. This is everything I wanted and more. Of course I want a huge box set but, an amazing start and now this has become my favorite after enjoying this whole disc. A+

Totally agree! This was an outstanding 4K transfer. It looks phenomenal. Though, it's a shame that Mid-Level Media didn't care for it. That's disappointing. I like Ken's channel and hearing his enthusiasm for movies and 4Ks. But sometimes his lack of video quality expertise comes through. In any case, the 4K of NOES is such a rich audio and visual experience.

This movie was intentionally shot in certain scenes will be more blue. Others would have been more Dream Sequence. Hence the title literally "A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET " IS BASICALLY A DREAM SEQUENCE STYLE SETUP FOR THAT EFFECT. TO MANY PEOPLE ASSUMED THE COLOR IN GENERAL IS OFF BUT AGAIN DREAM SEQUENCE MOVIE 😮😊

WB are way too greedy for that. They wouldn’t allow Scream Factory to give the legendary series the right treatment, yet decided to be lazy (as usual) with their 4K release. I’m not gonna lie, I have it (I’m a completists), but WB need to step their game up.

Gah! I was SOOOO amped for this, that I preordered the steelbook, through Amazon, on August 8th. Fast forward to this past Tuesday, when it STILL hadn't shipped, and then at night, I got a message, that it was going to arrive on November 20th. I was so upset. Finally, just ordered the collector's set from Zavvi. Will be here, next Tuesday.

Paramount scares 2 was gonna be my fist Amazon preorder that was gonna arrive on the day but somehow it was lost. Had to wait a few days to request a refund and couple more to receive it. Then wait for the constantly fluctuating price to return to what I was supposed to pay for it and from then I was told I had to wait three weeks for them to ship. Don’t even get me started on where my nightmare copy is

I enjoyed it a lot it was better than I was expecting it to be. Midlevel media said it was overdone with blue, but I think that was Wes Craven's intention. I actually thought the blues looked good they weren't oversaturated like they had been on previous releases and they looked more natural, the green structure was consistent throughout. Could have been better if a boutique label had done it? Yes, but considering Warner Bros did this themselves, it's pretty good. knows shout Studios or Arrow could be doing the sequels. If you think back to when the Exorcist 4K came out, Warner Bros did the original, put the third one out on 4K, so it's not like it's entirely unheard of. I'm glad you enjoyed it CHH

The uncut version was never on the previous DVD and blu ray releases or any other US release for that matter, the 4K is the first time we've had it in the states. Germany and Australia, maybe a few others, are the only ones who had it uncut.

Its really not that big a deal, people need to quit pretending that every time there is an "uncut" version its something to jump for joy about. All it is literally is an extra 30 seconds here and extra 30 seconds there. Its not a massive difference like the Friday the 13th uncut VHS and the theatrical Rambo 2008 has an uncut release too and its shorter removes or reshuffles some things just for the sake of adding 5 seconds of extra gore here and there

Here in the U.K. we had this and The Dream Child uncut on VHS. And to be fair the MPAA stripped The Dream Child right back.

The steelbook is worse. They literally used a pre made CANVA template for the little icons all they added was the claw marks. Lazy 😂. Transfer was good enough though

I remember seeing this in the theaters back in 84. And i love the look of this 4k. The uncut version is. Only 8 secs longer so its really not noticeable. I do have a question though cause i dont. Remember. That song being in the credits as they rolled. Maybe im old and dont know but i could have sworn it was different music before

Any fire scenes done before CG took over will always look different. What we all forget that is a living energy source that consumes air and fuel to survive. It sould be a beautiful vibrant mix of colors that are dancing on screen.

I was blown away by the 4K video quality of this release. Absolutely outstanding. One of the best transfers of the year. Rich, vibrant colors. Great three-dimensionality to the image. And, as you said, a true cinematic look overall. This is a massive upgrade. It even looks better than modern movies in some shots. Plus, the Atmos audio track blew me away. The excellent music is front and center in many sequences and adds so much to the experience. A+ release, IMO.

Got mine coming today. I just got this standard release. And Warner Bros actually does a really good job with their restorations overall. Almost every WB film I own looks great on the 4K format. But I am definately getting more deep into the boutique stuff over the last couple years so I'm curious on which labels do the other NOES movies in the future.

The UK theatrical/VHS/laserdisc prints were the pre-MPAA version with the extra seconds of Tina falling on the bed and the pan on her body afterward (there was nothing extra from Glen's death that Christian brings up). But because international distributors don't know any better or too cheap to create a new master of their own, the UK DVD and Blu-ray prints use the US masters which were censored. A Nightmare On Elm Street is one of the most iconic films ever made, it's in the National Film Registry as of 2022, some people online might look down on a couple of seconds, but it's a couple of seconds of A Nightmare On Elm Street finally restored back (and restored well might I add, it's seamless), and for the people in the comments acting like assholes putting down "ugh, it's only a couple of seconds", you just come off as a sad sad individual if you want to shit on people for getting justifiably excited about it. Those couple of seconds are film history.

Hope that if Freddy v Jason is really getting an arrow 4K I hope the audio from the mono on vhs, the stereo on dvd & the new mix the tin box set has is finally all included on 1 disc. If they did a 2:00 widescreen version or even also restored the 4x3 framing would be phenomenal but I hope if arrow does get that film that they include all the audio.

The VHS of F v J had Dolby Surround and not mono but it's still the analogue track.

@@austinwillcut4919if you switch over to the other audio option on the tape it was mono. Most tapes since the addition of Hi-fi stereo were able to have 2 separate audio options. So since the Dolby surround track is already on dvd it would be good to transfer the mono mix the tape had and which many heard unless they had a system that was stereo as were the tv & system capable of Dolby surround sound. As this was still a time dts needed decoders.

I went with the U.K. ultimate collector's edition and watched it last night. The picture quality looks good but it's not film like at all, especially with it being a low budget 80's film. It's heavily processed with very little grain.

As far as what I want from this franchise, I want them all on 4K. A box set would be great, but I want a box set comparable to Scream Factory’s Halloween and Friday the 13th box sets.

It looks great but I'm not a big fan of the color timing. It's cooler and I miss the warmth of the previous releases. I can't say which is more accurate to the original presentation but I wish it retained that warmer color timing.

I want the lost 'Freddy TV commercials' promoting each of the sequels found and released as bonus features. By the time Freddy's Dead came out, Freddy was on lunchboxes, cereal boxes, toys... let's have a spotlight on the original merchandising from way back in the '80's. I want someone to release on disc the started but unfinished script to the never made sequel of Freddy vs. Jason, if it will never happen then there should be no reason to withhold the script from the fans. I want to see the TV version of Wes Craven's New Nightmare, it had extra scenes. Release the uncut versions of Parts 4 and 5. Yes there is an uncut version of part 4, it's not as widely known as the uncut version of part 5. No I am not making this up because I still own the Dream Child uncut VHS tape.

Just saw it last night. It's a little too clean for my taste, but the Dolby vision is the winner here. The color grading is fabulous. The makeup effects are enhanced with Dolby vision. I thought it was better than the hitcher which was inconsistent with its color grading. Keep up the good work.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the theatrical and unrated cuts? The time difference is not even 10 seconds between the two cuts, which was a bit deflating. For me, this 4k is a subtle upgrade , nothing more. Imo

it goes from good to bad in a lot of diff shots... you have static grain and snail static grain in a lot of shots, but some shots look amazing. At least they fixed the audio for the Atmos mix (for the most part)

Most likely they will release Nightmare on elm street in 4K with Dolby vision and include blu ray with new scan either box set or stand alone...I don’t get why they didn’t include Dolby Vision with the physical disc..4K digital of Nightmare on elm street is in Dolby vision..Here’s example..when the movie CliffHanger (Sony) came out on physical disc it was HDR now they released it with the same movie with Dolby Vision on physical disc…another example Shaun of the dead, (Focus Picture) when that first came out it was HDR and now they releasing it on 4K with Dolby Vision this year..I understand that’s 2 different companies but still it’s annoying that us as collectors we don’t get the best format from day 1 instead the company’s want us the collectors to double dip later down the line..

To me the most baffling choice is the cover. Why the hell would you choose another source of Freddy. Why not just default it to the films original poster or Elm Street 1 promo image. The fact that I immediately recognized it was a part 3 Freddy showcases how poor of a decision it was. Not to mention, the Steelbook is even more ugly using the remake image for its cover. You advertise the worse of the franchise on your new 4k of the classic film. 😂
