I did that once with the fridge. I rehung the cabinets and added a crown molding to get rid of the dust trap. Also now always keep in mind the minimum clearances from appliances. Fridges need air spaces for cooling.

The greatest takeaway from the tiling is your ability to fix problems as they popped up. Well done and now looks good and functional. The next big job is not so scary to tackle knowing how this one turned out.

Laying the refrigerator on it's side even for a short period of time can ruin the compressor because the oil in the system can escape. I was told that if you do lay it over, let it sit right side up for the oil to return into place for a day or two before plugging it back in.❤❤❤❤

That underpayment is vitally important. Without using it, you are guaranteed tiles cracking in the floor. I am very happy to see you do it this way! Have fun, and enjoy, especially the final result. Congratulations on this new amount of progress!

You will have issues with the fridge moving forward, you don't have anywhere for it to draw air to cool itself from now. The 2" you had before was not enough for a full size but was working for that one. But now you don't have any fresh air getting to the compressor.

I am impressed with your tile installation. It looks great. Appliances have become a bit of a nightmare for homeowners when replacement is required. Not only do they no longer last like the older models, but there are now so many different sizes. So, not only do you have to pick the features, brand, look. . . but will it fit the current space / configuration. When we replaced our washer and dryer, we had to remodel the entire laundry room.

You did a wonderful job! My husband and I did the floor laying and the tiling about 15 years ago. They didn’t have those little wedge things to help tighten the tile. I’m so impressed at how fast you guys work. When we had the very same thing happened with our refrigerator, we started sanding the upper cabinet and turning the doors upside down. Does that make sense? We finally got the refrigerator to go in and just had to do some touch up staining on the cabinets. It happens to everybody. Do you think you measured and measured and measured. I will add your tile at the front door is going to be very very slippery. Put a rug down as soon as you can or somebody’s gonna have a hard fall. Your biggest fan from Oklahoma.

First, the house is coming along amazing. Not to burst your bubble, but you guys will never forget that the cupboard above the frig is not perfect. No one else will notice it. You on the other hand will see all of the imperfections. Just the way it is. Try not to worry about it. I've lived in our house for 53 years. We bought it from my parents. We've had the second floor completely redone. I can see all the areas where this house is unique. Friends don't notice them.

OMG - friends of mine had a similar problem…they needed to level all of their floors with flowable concrete and then once the laminate was installed they couldn’t get the fridge in. They ended up taking the top cabinet down and adjusted the bottom by cutting it down so that the top aligned. Unforeseen glitches! But now, you found a solution that works and it’s lovely and bright. Great job! Enjoy! Hopefully no glitches on the next project! Take care.

Well done. But I have been reaserching on the best appliances to buy. And the best place to do that is all the appliance repair shops. The #1 problem they have found is that all the kitchens have those walls on both sides of the refrigerators and that is a no no. They cause them to work overtime and so they don't last as long as they should.

Please don't be upset with my post, I just want to share with you the mistake I made with installing light colored tiles and white grout in my shower. Since it is in your kitchen, a high traveled area, you can expect, like I experienced, to have discolored grout that will be a "chore" to clean and keep clean. I had to take up my grout at the bottom of the walls that connect to the flooring and replace with a darker color grout. Just trying to share the problems I experienced. Don't worry about the refrig being perfectly placed under your cabinet. No one will notice it, they will concentrate on the overall aesthetics and functionality of the room. You are doing your best. How many people would not even attempt to build their own house? As long as you are satisfied and happy everyone else can "piss up a rope."

It is too late to help here but for your other rooms it might help your Detra is supposed to dry for 24 hrs before you walk on it or apply tiles as it needs to dry from the top down as for walking on it it shoves the wet thin set down some and can make tiles wobble a bit but it looks great what you have done. By the way I am currently putting on the same tiles with a glaze finish for a back splash in kitchen. well done and God bless. So proud of the fact you are fellow Canadians and not afraid to tackle a job just because you have not done it before.
