This is such an interesting video! I've been thinking about ways to make new friends in my city now that so much of my core friend group has moved away. I'm definitely more of an in-person friendship person so I've really been looking for events that give me the opportunity to meet people with shared interests. I think reaching out and following up are super important! Also loved your idea about being the friendliest version of yourself. Will definitely be putting that into practice!

Being alone gives me peace which makes me happy, but even for me there are downsides to being alone too much. You need a social network for practical reasons and because it’s not good for most people’s mental health to be alone all the time. As far as men, I think that this society intentionally serves to isolate men largely in ways that are unintentional, that are just a byproduct of values and policies.

Thanks so much for this latest talk, especially as it relates to sustaining friendships and fighting loneliness. I'm enjoying this. I honestly think the ways we go about these vary from person to person and I can really relate to the points you made, including your resolve to "create the friendliest version of yourself". When I travel alone, I strive to make a connection, however long it is, with a shared hobby or interest. Or when I worked with someone on a seasonal project, I, too "threw my pride out the window" to have a conversation with someone who may appear either reserved or unfriendly. Thanks again for another great video and I wish you further success in NYC! #appreciation

I think it isn’t just mostly affecting men whilst contributing to Male Loneliness that is constant in the U.S. In the U.S for the past 100 years, there is a sense of community Americans use to have before the construction of the highway in 1956. There use to be walkable streets, where there was no roads. Everyone would just stroll and stop by these shops, bars, and outdoor coffeehouses or coffee shops. People never had to rely on the automobile because it wasn’t mainstream and accessible to the rest of the general public at this time in history. People would just walk 5 minutes to their friend’s house without relying on a car solely for transportation. And another list and reason for why there is a Male Loneliness Epidemic in the U.S is due to the decline of civic participation and civic engagement among American men in the age ranges from (18-29) due to weaker social networks, lack of mental health awareness among men, societal stigma, and a lack of purpose due to modern feminism. A man’s role in previous generations was to find a girl, ask her out on a date, get married, and then have children. Nowadays many girls are not interested in marriage or family planning due to widespread emphasis on Female Education and Female Career Development. A lot of girls are so ambitious and aren’t so interested in fairytales due to modern feminism and modern structure of our lives in the U.S now. There is a decline of social networking, visiting older parents, over scheduling, business, and technology related issues due to excessive social media use among Americans for all age groups. However I do not know a way realistic approach to this problem that many young men are facing including teenage boys. All I can say is we need to have some uncomfortable conversations with people who are close to us.
