I haven't been able to listen to the front bottoms for 2 years because in April of 2016 I got into a car accident on the way to their concert with my ex boyfriend. They were our favorite band, he even had a talon of the hawk tattoo. They were my everything all throughout high school. I waited to see them for so long and I was so excited. But the car accident we got into on the way to the concert was so bad that every time I listen to them since then I got anxiety. The car was totaled and we were stranded 3 hours from our home town. Not to mention my head broke the window, just a concussion though. That brush with death before seeing them was just a lot to handle. However, I'm healing and this song is helping me. Thank you for being in my life for 5 years now tfb. Thank you.

To me this video makes reference to everyone’s grooming and opinions they present to you in hopes of shaping your life. When a parent says study more, when a teacher says you need to be more proactive. The term tie dye dragon refers to his ever changing portrait of himself, the way he and others view him. “Stuck in between who I am and who I am supposed to be”-aren’t we all, trying to be something better then ourself but stuck in between the old and the hoped for new versions of ourselves. The drugs may or may not be literal, it could easily be a metaphor for some faults he may believe himself to have as no one is perfect, and lastly the future he sees in mysterious ways, well he’s insightful at the end of the day our boys from TFB aren’t dumb and sometimes they can imagine the future/consequences they may cause. Oh and one more metaphor I draw from it all is that the confusing light is the good advice you’re given in life, the guiding light that you follow no matter how incomprehensible the full effect of it may be whether you’re chasing a college degree knowing it’s better you have one, chasing a more moral version of yourself knowing you hurt those around you constantly, it’s a song about metamorphosis and how transformational it can be whether or not you as the transformer can fully see all the positive strides you’re making in your life.

Just found out recently there’s a slang term called “chasing the dragon” which means trying to chase a high, gave a lot more meaning to this song for me. Here’s a pretty good definition I found from urban dictionary; “This term is a bit more complicated than merely "smoking opium". It starts when you have your first high, the world is peaceful, everything is perfect, you're numb, but in the best way possible. But, soon, it starts wearing off. Fast. Your mind races, you're pulled out of your dream world. You crave the drug more and more, wanting to feel the same way as you did on your first high. You go to the dealer and buy the same amount you had the first time, and smoke. Still feels good, but not as good as first time. You go and buy more. Closer, but not quite there.
