I loved that moment in Sea of Stars. I hadn't played the Messenger yet, but that song still hit SO hard regardlesss. It's just an absolute bop! After playing the Messenger it's even better now

Love seeing other people enjoy music on such a deep level! The entire soundtrack slaps so hard, it's really hard for me to pick a favorite track. The remixes were beyond dope and I love how the composers mixed their styles so that I had a hard time telling (just by hearing) which tracks were Mitsuda's. When I was a kid who'd never played a JRPG before, Chrono Trigger had me hooked just with its soundtrack alone. Thank God I played all the way through because it's still one of my absolute favorite games and I love the influence it's had in spawning other similar hits.

honestly that entire island was kind of an homage to the messenger with all its areas and music back to back, i was kind of bummed out when the clockwork castle wasn't some remix of the messenger's final area. Just seemed fitting given you are inside a music box.

@@Vaserius​​⁠Not to mention: -The secret shop in Brisk is the Shopkeeper’s theme -Songshroom marsh is Quillshroom marsh in a major key -Clockwork Castle is Clockwork Concierge slowed down -The level-up theme and the Crypt on Settler’s Island share elements of the Sunken Shrine (which given the ending makes perfect sense) -The second fight with Romaya uses Ruxxtin’s fight music -The overworld theme of Mesa Island is the Ninja Village -Zephyr & Sky is the Elemental Skyland with a more upbeat rhythm -Army of Strife (what plays in the section leading up to Clockwork Castle’s boss) is the ending bit of The Messenger’s Underworld theme -Celestial Quandry and the jingle for resting for the night are expanded and shortened versions respectively of The Hero’s Gift (the music that plays when Ninja speaks to the Sun and Moon gods) There’s a number of musical references to The Messenger (though primarily on the eastern side of the world) if you know what to listen out for.
