The CMA were able to get concessions from Microsoft, but the FTC failed to get even a single concession. So Microsoft hasn't failed to live p to anything, as those promises were never made.

It was long ago clear that the FTC isn't interested in the realities of the gaming industry. They are entirely motivated by an anti-Microsoft bias. The new accusations won't stick as Microsoft have the very obvious and strong counter arguments. The first is that the vast majority of the gaming industry has gone through layoffs due to correcting their over-hiring spree during COVID lockdowns. The second is the fact all subscription services, be they game or TV and movie services have raised their prices. Not to mention the fact that during the trial the FTC proved themselves to be too incompetent under their current leadership. Especially since, despite what they claim, they actually only argued about the damage Sony would experience, not consumers.

The layoffs were also allready slated to happen - I think Kotek said as much when the trial was going on. The console standard package replacing the old console gamepass service includes online - something they didn't offer before and required you to spend more money per month since to get online you had to spend an extra 10 bucks. The only thing you don't get is day one but they aren't depriving users of ABK content in any real sense. Plus these changes only impact Microsoft console (prince increases aside which they never said would not happen) which they already control and don't specifically target ABK content. It doesn't change ABK content on PC, other consoles, or other third party subscription services (which is what I think MS's statement about not degrading services applies to). It's tough to say that MS is using market power by abusing ABK content on their own platform which is still in third place. What influence are they using? Pressuring people to buy Ultimate? Well, one way to do that is to make it more appealing. Plus we need to point out that not getting gamepss doesn't mean you are deprived from ABK content with full parity on Day one - you have to buy the games sure, but you had to do that before then so there really isn't any impact. You can get camepass core, buy COD (or any other ABK) game and nothing is inherently different from how other players get it anywhere else. Yes, if you buy the Ultimate bundle you get it as part of a subscription, but it's an option and one that not everyone uses. You get the same thing as you would on Sony or anywhere else.

I play most of my games on series x. I play Jrpg's on my ps5, mostly ps4 Jrpg's tbh. Ps5 pro doesn't interest me. Concord isn't my type of game, so i dont care about that. Honestly I think it's all been blown out of proportion. In the uk its a couple of quid. Less than a coffee at Starbucks. A years subscription is about the price of two AAA games and we will get the back catalogue and future games and day one releases. It's still the best gaming subscription and it's still a bargain.

The FTC are like the turd that won't flush. Since Playstation have lost their grubby grip off CoD..... ALREADY, it is fairer. When Sony had more rights, there was exclusive in game only PS content on CoD, Sony made sure Playstation had early Beta access and for longer. Yet in 2024.... Microsoft have stuck too the promise, CoD will be THE SAME ACROSS THE BOARD on all platforms. Everyone is getting access too the new Beta ALL AT THE SAME TIME and for the same duration. What cracks me up, is we ALL KNOW, if this was Sony and Playstation that purchased ABK, NOBODY would have said a thing. Also, Sony themselves would have put in game Playstation only perks, advantages and early access and screwed over Xbox/PC. The whole reason Sony and their band of Ponies got their panties in a bunch about Microsoft buying ABK, is Sony and their Ponies know how they would screw over Xbox, so they presumed and assumed that Xbox would do the same back. I dont get why Sony decided to advertise Marvel Rivals at the same showcase as Concord. Concord is a hero shooter with knock off guardians of the galaxy whereas rivals is a hero shooter with the actual guardians as well as avengers, xmen etc. Concord is a paid hero shooter whereas Marvel Rivals is free. Concord gameplay looks bad whereas Rivals looks good. Concord has an uninteresting art direction whereas Rivals has interesting art direction. Concord looks to have a lot of focus on DEI whereas Rivals looks to have none. Rivals literally beats Concord in every aspect

I play on PlayStation and FTC is complaining about price increases. PSN+ prices are $80-$100 just to play online. Started the $70 price tag which some games are not justified the price tag. They could’ve helped stop PlayStation from at least the subscription because we had an increase for nothing.

One thing i do not get is FTC is just one regularer, how can a lone regulator effect the deal on their own with out backing from any other regulators a year after the deal closed. I was highly doubtful of Concord and it's woke agenda. But after playing it the game changed my perception. It's fun, the characters grow on you, and is very competitive. It also has a unique gameplay feature where switching character classes makes you stronger. That's one concept firewalk needs to push in their marketing in order to push the differences to other hero shooters. This is not a game where you play a certain character and stay locked to them/they/their, lol. You will only be limiting yourself. To the people who haven't even played it, don't just write it off because you saw your favorite KZbinr shit all over it because they feel Sony should have made a SP game instead or wanted something more like a Unga Bunga Dude Bro shooter. They aren't the player base this game is trying to reach. See what streamers like Flats(Overwatch) or Shroud is saying. They all agree Concord has potential.

There is no need for $70 games other than their greed. Want to know why software sales are down? Economists warned the industry $70 would price out a good portion of the market. It did. Without hype driving purchases day one, people have time to think on whether they want a game or not. GaaS is also locking players into a handful of games so they aren't buying a lot of other games. The industry is killing itself because it is so anti consumer and greedy. China has outlawed most of these practices. Western governments need to catch up.

Look I despise government interfering in business as much as the next guy, but the FTC honestly has a case here. Microsoft said this wouldn't cause an increase in Game Pass rates and what 9 months after acquisition close they jack up the prices and remove day one access from the standard Game Pass tier? What a sick joke, it's like Netflix's Standard plan not offering their new movies and shows when they come out but their most expensive plan does. It defeats the entire purpose of the model. Hopefully something can be done to get those prices back down, because I can't afford Game Pass, Spotify, and Hulu all at the same time while trying to pay my way through college. I was hoping there'd be significant backlash like when Xbox tried doubling Gold rates back in 2021 and it caused them to back off, but apparently people are fine getting all their money siphoned away by corporations.

Good. Xbox has no point of existing right now. PS and Nintendo is everything people need. No games, no sales, no profit. I hope Satya closes down the Xbox division as it is their biggest Non Performing Asset. Booty, Bond, and Spencer need to be shown the exit gate.
