A band I met YEARS ago, when I was 17, introduced me to this band and to the Mothers of Invention. My life hasn't been the same since. All I learned in life I learned from musicians of all kinds....The Fugs were the band I wanted at my high school graduation...but I never went to it...besides, I doubt if they would have been the band to play. So when all the other kids in school were doing whatever they did. I listend to the Fugs, read Allen Gingsburg book HOWL and listened to the Mothers.

The real first punk band. Badass and deceptively brilliant

The Fugs, plus the Sonics, were the two earliest punk bands.

Did you know that Jimi Hendrix was good friends with their guitarist Kenny Pines?He gave Jimi Hendrix a fuzz box to play on some of those Curtis Knight songs back than.
@cybertronian20054 жыл бұрын
Kenny Pine actually plays 12 string guitar on "My Friend" from the First Rays of the New Rising Sun album. he didn't join The Fugs until their Reprise albums though.

The piano intro to this song is actually the beginning of norwegian composer Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor!

Here’s cover by the underground band Plastic People Of The Universe kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXWxdYh_mM6JqLc It is by far not their best stuff though. Some original tracks from them worth checking out. Půlnoční myš Eliášův Oheň Nenávist vola k řeznickýmu psu Nikdo Moucha v ranním pivě Podivuhodný Manadrin Včera v neděli NF 811 Růže a mrtví Formed in 1968. The band was unfortunately placed in communist Czechoslovakia, banned from performing in 1974. Despite that, they continued with underground secret concerts. Wchich later became raided by the government. They were sentenced to jail time and demonized in the media, only for playing their music. And after they were released, they still continued in their endeavors. The persecution only strirred for more political songwriting (wchich originally wasn’t political at all), and even stronger cult following. All their stuff from 1968-1989 is live recordings from underground concerts, and officially released only after 1989.
