@malfunkt4 ай бұрын
For an all round lens also consider the Tamron 17-70 2.8. Yes it is a bit larger, but it will be worth it for its versatility. It has an F.28 aperture throughout the range, and at the 70mm telephoto, that 2.8 will allow you to get soft out-of-focus backgrounds if you need but can sharpen up at smaller apertures to amke for a great portrait or landscape lens. The lower aperture will also allow you to get better low-light shots throughout the range, and maintain a higher shutter speed for moving subjects.

I tested the 18-55 on my X-T5 and was, to my own surpirse, pretty underwhelmed by its performance. Maybe I got a bad exemplar or I'm spoiled by my prime lenses but especially on the wide end it never managed to be sufficiently sharp. Pity, as I like the size and could sometimes use an allround zoom again. So maybe I have to wait for some second hand 16-50s.

Fuji doesn’t recommend that combo as the 18-55 can’t fully resolve the 40MP

@@Wannes_ Yeah, I knew about it, but it still surprised me HOW much worse it is, especially at 18mm. The 16-80 f4 for example is also not recommended, but waaaay sharper in the center. Again, maybe I've got a bad one, but the difference is huge.

This one video I was looking forward to

Am I the only person who can’t see the difference in this, and other “18-55 can’t resolve the new sensor” videos. Works really well on my XT-5. I will wait til all the used 16-50’s turn up at MPB by Xmas and get one for £300

In the US, the price is $ 699 (645 euro), but in Europe, the price is € 799. Way too much.

Only half that as a kit lens. People buy the kit, sell off the lens for say 600€, and both parties are 200€ less out of pocket.

Seems weird not to mention the sigma 18-50 as a comparison here
