great review. do you prefer the 18 1.4 lm or the 33 1.4 Lm new lenses over the 23 ? or do you prefer the old versions? i just document my own family photography is just a hobby, I currently use the old 23 1.4, 35 1.4 which i love and the old 56, sometimes I think the 18 would pair better then the 23 but its just expensive and i feel aimed towards pro photographers.

My honest opinion is that you have the best lenses for the kind of photography you're talking about. The 35mm 1.4 is just about as wonderful a lens as I've ever used. The 23 1.4 is a little big, but not as big as the new 23 1.4 WR and has that quality like the 35 1.4. Unless you really need weather sealing or the linear motor for video, I don't think you'd need the newer lenses. I actually decided to sell my 18 1.4 WR because it never landed with me, opting instead to use the Voigtlander 18mm 2.8 manual lens. I just like the images better.

@@ChrisFreitag awesome,, Thanks for your reply,, the 23 is the only lens im back and forth on .as I find it too big, The 35 1.4 is my fav, It's definitely is a beauty. I think I'll stick to what I have and hope that fuji releases a pancake 23 one day, sometimes its nice to show more environment with the portraits, That's when I use the 23 1.4,

I love my copy, yes, dependable, never leaves my X-T5 either. Image quality never disappoints - captures true reality. I would call it faithful.

Faithful is a great description for this lens!

Great Video Chris. Boring is only limited to the one behind the lens. Your sample pics look amazing. Looks like I will need to get the credit card out.

Hi! Nice review Did you have experience with sigma 23mm? I am looking for 23mm and I am considering between Fuji and sigma. What is important for me is the price, sigma is the half price of Fuji.
@ChrisFreitag3 ай бұрын
I don’t have experience with that lens, but I did get the Sigma 2.8 18-50 zoom lens and it was so good that I sold my Fujifilm 16-55F2.8 lens, which is saying a lot.

Good video 👌 i think this 23mm is a boring focal length and it’s hard to create dramatic images with it but the lens is second best from my 18mm

I had a part that I cut out, about how I know a lot of people think the 35mm equivalent focal length isn’t wide enough or isn’t close enough. To each their own. For me, it helps me find the shot.

I don’t have a question about the lens, it’s about the X-T5. I have two X-T4s, really well built cameras, but I want one that has a tilt screen not a flip out screen, mainly for street photography, my concern with the X-T5 (based on many you-tube reviews) is that it “feels” plasticky, especially the dials. What’s your opinion?
@ChrisFreitag4 ай бұрын
I had traded away my original X-T5 to get the X-H2 for hybrid shooting. While the X-H2 has been great, I hate it for photography for the same reason as the X-T4, that flip out screen. I now have both again, and I traded away my beloved X-Pro3 to get it back. This camera is absolutely wonderful for photography. I take it to the mountains, I take it out in the rain, I set it on the ground when I'm setting up my other camera for video. I do nothing to baby it. So no, I do not agree with other KZbinrs that it feels too plasticky. It's much lighter than the X-T4, which I think may add to the feeling that's it's built cheaply. Honestly, I don't even think about it when I'm using it.

I was afraid about the same thing too before grabbing my X-T5 (coming from an X-T3), but once the 5 came in, it felt actually so much better. I was completely surprised that it wasn’t a disappointing cheaply made camera as many KZbinrs made it seem. I guess it’s something you first gotta have in your hands to know

For me the 50mm equivalent is the most boring field of view. I never got used to it, not even when I see the best pics taken with that focal lens. So I guess it is subjective
@ChrisFreitag3 ай бұрын
To be clear, I'm not suggesting that the 35mm focal length is boring. It's a tongue-in-cheek way to describe a lens that just works and doesn't have any specific thing to point to as amazing.
