If you recently bought a DSLR camera and want to find out how a camera actually works. Congratulations, you landed on the right video.
In the next minutes I will explain to you how the shutter speed, the ISO and the Aperture work together to expose a picture right.
So sit down, grab a pen, a piece of paper and get ready for this video, then we go together into the manual mode.
Let's start at the very beginning.
The most important thing to make pictures is Light, then everything we can see with our eyes and our cameras, is just light, or the reflection of light.
No matter what camera you have, if there is no light you will only see black.
So let's see that we capture the right light.
First….
The light meter…shows you how bright or dark your image will get.
-1,-2 and -3 means your picture gets darker.
1,2,3 up means your picture gets brighter.
and 0 means your picture is perfectly exposed.
In my oan image affects how bright or dark the picture will get.
Short exposure means less light comes to the sensor and your image gets darker.
Long exposure means more light comes to the sensor and your image gets brighter.
The Shutter speed in my opinion is the important one.
depending if your object is moving, you have to choose a fast shutter to catch a sharp shot and prevent motion Blur, also hand-held shots can be a fact of moving.
for that, choose a fast shutter like 1/320
if you shoot a landscape in a low light situation for example, and you have to choose your exposure slower than 1/50 use a tripod. your camera is now static and allows you long exposure over 20sec. or longer if you want that.
Last but not least is the Aperture the iris from your camera
With the Aperture you can determine how big the opening of your lens is, and so decide how much light comes to your sensor.
the Aperture on your Screen looks like a F with a Nummer behind.
The Nummer shows you the resistance from your Lens.
For example a high Nummer like F18 or F22 means your Lens is close to closed and less light comes to the sensor.
A deep Nummer like F2.8 or F1.4 means your Aperture is completely open and a lot of light comes to the sensor of your camera.
you choose the aperture depending on the light you have, on the shutter speed you choose before or how much blur you want.
because the deeper the aperture is, the more blur effect you will get.
During daylight, you will have enough light. so you can use the aperture to decide how much blur you want.
I hope I was able to answer your questions with this video.
And To understand the camera and get familiar with the correct settings takes practice.
In this sense, thanks for watching and have fun.pinion it is better to expose a picture between 0 and -1.
because you prevent that your picture is overexposed and in the editing, you can easily bring the shadows up.
To understand how to expose a picture right, you have to know and to handle three factors. ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed. These three factors affect how bright or dark your picture will get and you have to balance.
In order not to confuse you as much as possible, let’s break down these three factors.
The ISO
The easiest and simplest advice I can give you, is make sure that the ISO is always set to 100, the deepest level of most cameras.
because, the higher the ISO, the more quality we lose.
and further, it's also easier for you to understand how shutter speed and the aperture works together, without thinking about the ISO too.
And if you didn’t get enough light with the aperture and the shutter, like after sunset, only then choose a higher ISO.
