Many politicians, and most climate scientists in the media, portray climate change as a crisis. "People are dying!" shouts Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. Bill Nye "the Science Guy" says "The planet's on ****ing fire! ... This is an actual crisis!"
But Judith Curry tells me: There is NO "crisis." Global warming is a problem, yes, but it's manageable. She explains how IPCC scientists recently admitted that their most extreme models won't become reality, and she notes that climate-related deaths are actually falling.

Judith's views on the climate have been widely debunked, but maybe she is just peeved that she was wrong--and wrong so publicly: Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree we caused the vast majority of recent global warming, and every nation on Earth has signed off on the 6th IPCC report saying we caused virtually all recent warming. At the same time, scientists reporting on global ice melt, sea level rise, loss of biodiversity, the breakdown of ecosystems, and the harms man-made global warming will cause for people and the planet are truly scared by what we are unleashing. Just go read the science--there's a reason some scientists have felt compelled to take extreme steps like super-gluing themselves to buildings to draw attention to the crisis.

Look up the solar maximum and minimum cycles, the magnetic poles flip every couple decades, during this period the sun is more active. This period of activity and the flip will be in 2025. Temps will be even hotter than this year, over the next couple of years. After that and into 2030 it will be significantly cooler, and whatever politicians are pushing the climate agenda, if they get anything major through to take control, will likely take credit for fixing the issue and continuing to demand more during the solar minimum.

I'm 70, trained as a scientist (in the 1970's when the hot buzz word you included in all your papers was "cancer," not "global warming") and everyone I know now falls into one of two categories: Those who devoutly believe in man-made climate change, and those who know what they're talking about. The woman being interviewed in this video believes in man-made climate change. She states it outright that human-emitted CO2 is contributing to global warming. However, she doesn't agree with the climate alarmists that it's a problem, or anywhere near as big a problem as is being claimed. For some reason the right and libertarians both love to bury their heads in the sand when it comes to the science behind anthropogenic climate change. It's almost as frustrating as hearing the left say we're all going to die in 10 years.

Until you get a country that has an obesity pandemic.... So it's better to play safe than ease on the thing. This is why also Science is democratized.... Because Judith here made a fallacy... 'Can't blame Fossil Fuels for Climate Change therefore it's okay to use Fossil Fuels'. But Fossil Fuels are responsible for a LOT of other negative environment/health factors and not just one. Environment is HARD bro! It's a discipline that involves a LOT of other disciplines... Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Health, Math, Science,.... Even Astronomy is in there! Actually due to circumstances I never finished high school, even though I twice went back to school to get my diploma. People my age had an even more rigorous science education than you, but my daughter had en even more rigorous science education than me. So many additional facts and insights to come about in 30 years, and she attended one of the best science universities in the country. Anyway... In the 1970s, educated people know that the majority of papers showed CO2 was overtaking particulate cooling. In the 1970s you were told by lesser teachers that the consensus was we would be cooling, but I was taught by some great teachers who looked beyond a Time Magazine article.

I am 80+ and 60 years ago fully educated at top university in Physics before doing Medicine. The PRESS called it a coming "ice age" and the scientist called it something else. Cooling! … and they responsibly declined to say it was going to be catastrophic - predictions ranged from "very mild" to "as severe as Maunder Minimum" and urged more honest research. They were CORRECT - the Grand Solar Minimum has started and the predicted weather extremes and increased volcanic and earthquake activity are happening as we speak.

I am old (66) & poor, but quit my job this last year due to stress & disgust - am now trying to figure out how to live on a shoestring (SS) - but find that more satisfying that my 'job' and colleagues ever were. No one would speak to me when I expressed anger over the City of Berkeley outlawing 'any new natural gas hookups or appliances'....I believe the City was sued and has lost? I've watched all of Curry's videos and have seen her work. It's equally important to see why her peers disagree with her. She told us that global warming stopped in 1995. She was wrong. She said it again in 1998. Wrong. Again in 2002. Wrong. And in 2007. Wrong. And 2010. Wrong. She continued to bash the Climategate scientists years after they were fully exonerated by seven independent invesigative panels. No fudging of data was found. She freely admits a business relationship with the fossil fuel industry, the common denominator of many other contrarian scientists, always important to keep in mind. She defended the deeply flawed Wegman report, which bashed Michael Mann's hockey stick data, but she later admitted to never having read it. The hockey stick has been confirmed and replicated by over 30 follow-up studies and is affirmed by the National Academy of Sciences. Curry has been a climate denier going all the way back to the early 1990s, even though she was on the Berkeley Earth team that verified global warming. (Koch Industries paid for the research, which was intended to DEBUNK global warming but accomplished just the opposite.) This does not mean that global warming/climate change is not a problem. It is like the obesity epidemic. Just because there have been developed better heart medicines does not mean that obesity is not a problem. And if the warming stopped with the current increase of 1.2 C, it wouldn't be too bad. But we are in totally unchartered territory. It might be that the temperature will increase 5 degrees. Other than the extinction of most animal species, we don't know when the situation becomes unmanageable. This is like the average person is 500 lb. At a certain point, the health care system will collapse.
