The Philips CD 960 and CD 880 are still the most analog sounding CD players I've ever heard. Nowadays, many amplifiers have a built-in DAC, Philip did it back in the late 80s - the DFA 888 and DFA 1000

I worked at Philips, in both the consumer division, and then the Medical Division, It was a good company to work for, however your employment was effected by the market, There were large layoffs and it became a lame company to work for, I went to a smaller Medical Company and made considerably more money. I still however think Philips products are well made and some of the best. I gained a lot of experience working for them. I was lucky to work both in their consumer and medical. Funi actualy took over a lot of their consumer brands, and the quality fell off. This happened in the mid 1990s. Thanks for producing this video, I have been to Eindhoven, Best and Amsterdam, Their Medical division was in the Town of Best, witch is basically a suburb of Eindhoven.

After over 50 years in consumer electronics i have fond memories of a time when Philips were a leading brand but whilst they were great innovators they were not so good at getting fully working products onto the market that were well made and reliable. It took the Japanese brands to perfect many products and hence confidence in Philips products went into decline. Hence it should be no surprise that the products we can but today are far removed from the ones that Philips made in Holland and other countries.

In the early 1970”s I had a vacuum tube operated reel to reel Philips tape recorder given to me by my uncle. It had really lean high quality sound. I wish I had kept it :(

I have Philips CD/cassette/radio combos mc10 and mc118...made 1978 to 1982 and a mc235 they are still working.. and two FM radio/iPad docking station from the 1980s...all made in Holland..... statement Designed and Developed by Royal Philips BV Holland is on the back of the set 😊.. still my go to stereos.....

i also grew up with my grandmother listening to a big philips radio without Fm bought in late 40´s if memory doesn´t fail me but the style was very ahead in design , wood of diferent kinds and aluminium , this i can´t lif it alone , it is a very well known style but now it vanished from my mind , art-deco it shined a light on my brain, neighboors in the 60´s and early 70´s used to dress well and visit my grandparents as we were the only to have TV a shaub-Lorenz with very expensive today finishings and was the biggest screen at the time as the same used to happen in the 40´s with the radio , we were a very undeveloped country , and much more in the interior

Philips came out with their first CD player, the CD-100 with its 14 bit DAC. They were going to get their 14 bit system, darn it!! LOL. Maybe they had a bunch if 14 bit DACs they wanted to use up. 😂🤣

I haven't watched the video yet, but the reason I clicked on it is that I've always had a soft spot for Philips products. One of the last Philips products I bought was a pair of SHL9705A headphones. Unfortunately, I discovered that I can't buy replacement earpads from the company. They aren't replaceable from some generic design, either. But the sound from these headphones is impressive, especially considering the price point. But recently, I bought a Philips Blu-ray player and had to return it to Walmart. The quality was horrendous, which was a shock to me, as everything I've bought under the Philips brand was amazingly good. Clearly, Philips is struggling as a brand name, and the glory days are over with. Sad to see it go this way.

When i was a Teenager i once owned 2 of the first CD Players. A Philips CD100 and a Marantz CD73 when they were worth next to nothing. Today they are worth a fortune. I hated there was no FAST FF/RWD.

I didn’t like that at the beginning of the video that you were “switching” between clips of modern Phillips electronics and the older historical pictures of their company founding and their antique light bulbs ~ just have the historical pictures at the beginning and it would be more of a transition, that 1 piece of looped-over jazz music for the background ~ 😠, and as one of the first comments thought that your video was done by a “AI” bot, because you used a synthesised voice-over 🙄 ~ we would prefer to hear your actual voice to make that the video was done by a fellow human, I assume your language isn’t English? so you typed to a bot to address the English viewers. For my experience with “PHILIPS” I got a Philips mc-120 micro system - HIFI, CD/cassette/radio/aux-in, from my brother when he lost interest with it and a vintage Philips mains-shaver from my great-grand parents

I had one of these CD100 Players.... Sometimes the CDs came with more that 15 songs, and the only way to get to them is to please through the CD until you got to track 16, etc... I sold it like 20 years later at a garage sale, and it was still working like new... Philips was one of the best product manufacturers, but not any more, since they sold out to the Chinese.. Sony is still good...

i always like philips for everything they sold ,but hi-fi was at a higher level and some not that powerfull amplifiers but enough to fill a living-room were sounding very good this the F series from 79 with technics speakers the SB-F3 one of the best speakers ever made but only in 1979 ,after it might seem equal but far from it, even in 1980 or 81 i bnought a incredible nice designed stereo tv with a v-2000 video with box tweeter and woofer but all flat nothing coming out or seen keys but hiden in a litle cover ,later i bought a stereo philips video and a friend of mine that lived for 4 years far from our home town he was wanting to show me his pioneer vhs video and he went to my home and i asked him ,you want to go and he had a strange face and said "this is like my pioneer video ,only yours seems better finished "and yes after a akai vhs video was the best vhs video i had, clean and perfect stereo sound in grey also automatic tracking or in a second the image and sound become perfect no matter in which video was recorded

Japan already had CDs in the 1960s and 1970s..but they were 3 inches.. not the standard 8 inch....i have a Panasonic mini CD player/radio combo from the 1970s that is designed to play a 3 inch CD...in Japan the disc was always sold in paper jackets....but they only had Japanese artist no American or British artist... Other was CDV and CDDR but those formats didnot make it to America....i remember seeing this in Japanese Homes

VHS not even today i know how the less quality and even technologic speaking it was very bad and become standart world wide when almost nobody had them i had already a top system in betamax that was superior by far , for no reason tv stations world wide before digitalization all worked with betamax and some tv stations that are not filled with money still use them as philps also had high definition tv´s CRT type(740,only) that for the blacks was perfect while the slim modern tv´s are now reachin`the CRT tv colour quality in black colour that seems a bit wrong as black is the non existance of colour as white is the mix of all colours(try it at home with school paint or used on schools)can´t remenber the name in english ,i´m Portuguese
