One thing to note about those modern MyArcade parable consoles: Most of these, and others since the during early 1990s to the early/mid 2000s actually mostly run on NES/Famicom hardware-- and most of them are either preloaded with classic NES games (like SMB, Duck Hunt, Balloon Fight, etc.) or original ones they made, either by themselves or homebrew. These are also known as "NES(es)/Famicom(s)-on-a-chip" consoles.

Great video as always, also there’s a couple other handheld or maybe also bootleg consoles that should have been listed here including: - Virtual Boy, if you could even call it a handled was still Nintendo’s worst selling console that gave you headaches and eye strain all in an attempt at simulating virtual reality. - SouljaGame, a bootleg handheld and later home system made in China with the name of a one-hit wonder rapper slapped on it. It got pulled from stores not long after when Nintendo became aware of it. - R-Zone, as AVGN quoted it; “This is basically a crappy version of the virtual boy. Yes, I said that, as if the Virtual Boy isn’t already crappy enough.” - PCP Station, yes that is actually the name of this bootleg console. Basically a cheap LCD game alternative if you didn’t have the money to buy a PlayStation Portable - Ouya, while not technically a handheld system. It was basically a portable home console created by Kickstarter that just allowed players to play mobile games on the television.

As long as they don’t require answer booklets (looking at 1998 (?) Jeopardy! and Family Feud, which simply display number codes for selected clues or surveys and responses, respectively; Deluxe Jeopardy and the mini version from Hasbro after Tiger folded have the categories and clues displayed on screen) they mostly work as intended, though I’ve only played game show games. (If you’re in the market for the older games on eBay or Amazon, make sure the seller includes the accompanying booklet.

Game & Watch worked where Tiger didn't for three reasons. 1. G&W's stylization with bold shapes made the graphics clear, while Tiger's graphics tried to be too detailed with thin outlines, which made it cluttered and hard to see what was going on. 2. G&W didn't try to do too much, its games were simple, while Tiger really wanted to imitate consoles with what they had, it was really noticeable at times. (Though there were some exceptions with later G&W that did try to be a little too ambitious, like "Zelda".) 3. G&W knew when to quit. The final one (Mario the Juggler) was released in 1990, only one year after the Game Boy. It knew it was done. I was seeing Tigers (or other manufacturers imitating them, usually as things like Happy Meal toys or cereal box prizes) as late as *2007.* But regardless, I still collected these cheapo handhelds when I was a kid. Seeing how many I could gather was most of the fun they offered.

I actually had the Sonic 3 handheld. I also had the Daytona USA one with a "holographic display" and a pop out light! Ooooooh! How fancy... At least the light ran off a separate battery so you weren't running down the ones powering your game any faster while gaming in the dark. It also allowed the light to act as a flashlight in a pinch. That's something, I guess. (I'm so glad I got to play the REAL Daytona USA years later!)

if you're talking about Tango Gameworks, from what I gather Microsoft closing them down had more to do with Shinji Makami's replacement unexpectedly getting sick and having to leave resulting in the company not having very stable leadership and apparently the company kinda downplayed Hi-Fi Rush in marketing as that it wasn't a game they primarily wanted to be known for, so can't entirely blame MS for that one, it was just a series of unfortunate circumstances.

With that said, I’d love to hear input (via a comment or video) on shows directed towards younger audiences that convey good messages very well versus shows that convey them very poorly or convey a bad message. I know you don’t really watch many cartoons anymore, and I have personally outgrown talking about kids shows myself, but I love hearing your input on important messages such as mental health and exercise

Ah yes digital pet toys like Tamagatchi. I'm a 2000s person but I've had a fair amount of digital pet toys, mostly Littlest Pet Shop-themed ones. TBH, I feel the idea was done better with Webkinz and Beanie Babies 2.0, where you buy a stuffed animal and enter a code to play with them. Webkinz is still around, but not nearly as good as it used to be, and I still miss Beanie Babies 2.0, wish TY would bring it back as they did make retro Beanie Babies.

As an adult Tamagotchi fan, you still have to clean its poo in the modern ones. I think tamagotchi isn’t a failure! I guess it’s not for everyone.

The N-Gage contains one of the more obscure games in the Super Monkey Ball series, usually referred to as Super Monkey Ball N-Gage. SuperMonkeyCherrim said of the game: "This is probably the worst variation of SMB1, like literally SMBJR is miles ahead of this. There are only two songs, and the Jungle theme is literally the first part on loop." For reference, Super Monkey Ball Jr was the GBA port of Super Monkey Ball, and was already on shaky grounds in terms of quality.

THe reason why Gameboy dominated the market for so long is because it was extremely inexpensive and its battery life could go on for an entire day before needing a change.

Ah the impressive world of handheld consoles. Some of them good, most of them really bad. Power wasn't everything but they really went with it, that or tried the less possible. It's crazy to think that SEGA actually tried with the concept of hybrid game mode but failed abysmally because they only thought on the power but not on the comfort. For that Nintendo ruled in that market till the end. Also, finally I can associate mafia and gaming without having to talk about the Mafia games.

Anyone here remember the old Game & Watch portable devices? They were made before Tiger Electronics were a thing, but were essentially the same thing, but made by Nintendo and were generally higher quality. Plus, they actually could be used as, get this, a clock! My brother and I both had one. Mine was Super Mario Bros. and his was Donkey Kong Jr.
