I think it’s due to lack of knowledge. Even if you get a high bill, the hospital can make super low payment arrangements with you. It also can’t effect your credit and other things to my understanding. I think most people react out of fear given the high $$$, but there are laws in place to protect consumers.

I wish my getting hit by a car story was this awesome! Lol! 😂🤣 Mine was just me being a stupid little 8 year old holding onto the side of a 1980 Buick station wagon, solid steel car, slipped on ice that was covered in snow, went under the back, right rear tire rolled right over my waist. To this day I don't know if it was that or me walking on it after that actually broke my pelvis, but I only made it a few feet, my body got really hot, everything went black, and I woke up to my brother wrapping me in a blanket and several people coming out to watch the scene unfold.... Good times! 🙂🙂🙂

I didn't catch a bus when I was hit by a car and flew a bit and landed in the road and popped up... But I did walk home. Shock wore off about halfway home and oh, the pain. Never saw a doctor. My neck is still stiff 20 years later.

I was hit by a car on October 11 2022 and I just watched this video. I felt like this was soooooooo true. I was late to class, ironically it was my Natural Disasters class, got hit in a crosswalk. I just wanted to go to class not the hospital. I only had a concussion and road rash. I texted my roommate and mom (in that order) hey I just got hit by a car, nothing is obviously broken, there doing cat scans. Now I just casually throw it out there. "Oh yeah I got hit by a car last semester"

Yeah I've been hit as well but surreal isn't what id call it. I have no memory of about 2 weeks before and 2 months after, I'm missing my right frontal lobe and half my hearing in my left 👂oh and my 🐱 disappeared too.

When I got hit by an SUV, I tried to run into the middle of the intersection to get my phone which was thrown in three ways. The bystanders had to gently, but quickly usher me to the footpath and were saying, "honey, you need to sit down and wait for the ambulance". I had a concussion and was in total shock. It was very surreal... So glad you are ok too Ange! 💖

@@evozero905 Sorry to hear that. Praying and believing for a full and miraculous healing in Jesus name. The amazing thing about the brain is it's ability to adapt and rewire. There is a book by Dr Caroline Leaf called "switch on your brain" I highly recommend it. As for your hearing, I feel ya sister, I have lost 50% of my hearing in my right ear (unexplained) several weeks ago, but I am still praying and believing for a miracle. I was working at an engineering company which had several buildings on one side of a relatively busy street which had no curbs nor sidewalks. I was walking from one building to another when a car hit me from behind. All that was hit was my left arm, which was broken into a jigsaw puzzle for the orthopedic surgeon. The funny thing was that the clipboard I was holding in my left hand was probably launched into orbit. I remember seeing it flying nearly straight up (before I realized what had happened and the pain set in) and thinking it was several hundred feet in the air and climbing. It was never found. The idiot who hit me doing 90 mph in a 25 zone never stopped. The company paid for my arm's rebuild.

That happened to me, on my way to work. I was getting off a bus running to catch the shuttle to work stepped out from behind the bus and a car hit me spun me up in the air when I landed I was facing directly in front of the it stopped in the lady and myself were looking at each other. I need Ali ran for the Shadow and was getting on and that's when the driver told me a note you're not getting on the shuttle today. He said you just got hit by a car you got to get looked at so I got off the bus and the crazy part was the guy that hit me I had him take me to work.

@Edith Dlp Thank you, I'm doing okay I have some back issues but I don't think it was just that accident that caused . The rest of the story was I got to work soon as I walked in my boss walked over to me and told me go to the hospital. So I went to the hospital and I got a clean bill of health that day. The funny thing is after that day my work ethic was never questioned. Lol

I did something similar last time I was in the city. Friggin 5 months pregnant, walk out in front of a car trying to catch a tram. 5 meters from a crossing that everyone else was waiting at. Luckily the car stopped so I wasn't hit but geeze I felt like a numpty.

This happened to a friend of mine except on the other side... a guy ran into traffic and jumped on the car smashing their windscreen, laughed at him, flipped him off then ran off. The insurance company wouldn't cover the damage. It was brand new car.

If you're a pedestrian, struck by a car, by law, the car owner's auto insurance covers your medical bills. So, it shouldn't matter if you have health insurance if you were struck by a car. To the car owner, it's called personal liability. But, if it was a hit-and-run, and neither you nor any witnesses have the license number and/or description of the vehicle that hit you, you might have a problem with medical bills.
