I was hopeful with Jost but Jost seemed like he was working under conditions he was not used to. Perhaps with more money he could have made it work, I don't want to throw any shade his way, but Vowles looks like a man who came in with a clear plan and knows how to execute it. I hope their upgrades brought more than what we got to see in Canada. I'm not a Williams fan necessarily but I love to watch bottom teams improve. I'm not buying the whole Aston and Merc have decreased the gap by a lot that some are trying to push because Max didn't finish 10secs+ in front....for the entire race he was at 5secs and when he tried for fastest lap in the last 3-4 laps he pulled 9secs ahead of Alonso (who's also trying to increase his gap from Lewis) within one lap... Max is just coasting and avoiding unnecessary problems, thats all it is
@paperplane-db8qf Жыл бұрын
Even Alonso is coasting. That Aston Martin is extremely quick. Perez was pushing flat out and couldn't catch upto the Ferraris in clean air so it's not unbeatable.
@imibuks-replit Жыл бұрын
@paper plane I think they closed, but if max was pushing fully, 15 second instead of 9
@asareirene Жыл бұрын
Huh? But Alonso was not pushing either. Lewis closed the gap to under 1.5 seconds before Lewis fell off. And Max was trying and failing to get the fastest lap set by Lewis on the same tyres but less fuel. Nobody is saying that the gap is non existent or that they have closed it. The gap is definitely in no way as big as it used to be and that is the point. That's fact. No need to get all crazy about that. Also, your point about max not pushing and trying for the fastest lap is a weird take when he was lapping quite similarly and consistently throughout the run. There was no period during that last stint that he was significantly faster or slower. Alonso and Lewis however had their times fluctuating a lot. So to say that he was only trying to set the fastest lap in the latter stage of the race doesn't make any sense. The gap between him and Alonso increased because Alonso was not pushing as hard towards the end after Lewis stopped gaining on him. Let's not make things up to try and hype up our faves

The thing about tyre management is more downforce tends to help tyres last, rather than the opposite, since the tyres are more consistently gripping rather than sliding and scrubbing off tread. Crazy idea guys, what about starting Formula 2 coverage? It's an entire series with only one car manufacturer so they've got that aspect of "the best rules", and as the feeder series for F1 naturally there is a lot of crossover between the drivers, looking at the Wiki page it's amazing how many of the "rookie of the year" award winners are now driving F1 without being the F2 champion. If you're ever looking for something more to talk about it's probably worthwhile covering F2 in some capacity.
