Be very careful when your cross cutting like that ,the cut off can kick back with force .I suggest you keep the long fence away and use the mitre gauge (the one with the clamp).Best of luck sir .

Many years back it happened to me with kick back. I ended up with a deep cut to the stomach but it did teach me a big lesson.

So it can cut. Great! But what about accuracy? How much slop is there in the mitre gauge? Are the mitre gauge and stop fence a good fit in the T slots? Or are they sloppy?

Just a word of caution I was always taught as an engineer when using saws and drills to not wear gloves invade they catch the blade or drill bit as it will pull your hand in to the blade or drill bit not 100% on how true it is but that was what I got taught by my lecturers at the time

+nokiacairus I can assure you that the camp FOR wearing gloves are in complete error and nobody in health and safety sciences or engineering research would support them. A pair of leather gloves will offer precisely zero resistance to any oscillating bladed power tool - they can however turn what would otherwise be an cut or amputated finger into an amputated arm or even a fatal accident. That's not even to mention the completely unfounded confidence that gloves may give the user plus the loss of a vital sense of touch. Wearing gloves at a table saw gives you about as much protection as driving a car wearing wellies.

People don't wear gloves to protect themselves from the saw silly. They wear gloves because of working with materials that splinter or have burrs and it's not practical to remove them for every cut. Anyway, most injuries wearing gloves come from slower rotational tools like drill presses which tangle fabric up faster and with more force than any sawblade would. A sawblade would most likely just cut through the glove instead. Look up test videos from woodworkers who tried: they all just cut the fabric.

@@dereton33 Is not about camps here sir.. use your common sense and logic. Working gloves are most of the time harder in meterial than regular ones.. and do not get ripped off to easy..so what is hapening if those get cought by a blade or drill bit? I think is better that you don't find out.

You really shouldn't be doing cross cuts with one end on the fence like that, you could get a serious kick back especially with the pipe, use the mitre angle for cross cuts and a piece a would for a stop that you clear before hitting the blade.

Hi, I normally find your videos very informative so thank you for the majority of them. However this one concerns me. Although your hands are not that close to the blade on most occasions wearing gloves can be more of a hazard as if they get caught they can drag your hand into the blade. I was worried when you didn't use the fence to support some peices of your work and that piece of metal firing back at you would have been a very different story if it had hit you. The blade should be set to just above the height of the material you are cutting. Any higher and this again creates more danger so it is a fault with the guard system that doesn't allow the material to pass through correctly. I'm also concerned that you didn't know how to turn the machine off correctly. If something was caught in the machine and you need to stop it quickly having to fiddle about opening the yellow cover may not be an option and most table saws have this off switch mechanism to enable you to turn it off with either your hand or even knee if something unexpected has happened. I don't think you have done this on purpose so don't take it the wrong way but it can sometimes be irresponsible of power tool companies to ask youtubers to review products based on the number of subscribers and not the skill level of the user. just trying to make sure everyone keeps all their fingers and thumbs :-)

+Liam McDermott Thanks for your comments Liam, I was well aware that I could just have turned the machine off by pressing the red stop button. Using any machine has its risk factors, the fence guard Is the option of the user and can be dependent on the materials you are cutting, I showed the piece of metal tube flying off when cut, to alert users to what can happen. I had used this saw a couple days before deciding what I was going to cut for the video and was well acquainted with it`s on off controls and fence guard, hight of blade ect. Thanks for your concern about my safety though.

Brilliant review young man. I’m debating myself to have this one or wait a bit more. I got the FURY 6, which combination of Mitre Saw (Chop saw). I’m kinda used to the Mitre Saw, but the Table saw a bit confusing. Also, I’m only a home user as you are, so I don’t really want to spend too much that I probably won’t use that often as professionals. Anyway, there are cheaper options but as I got an Evolution product, I would like to keep both the same, if I can. Anyway, thank you for the review. When that bit of metal tube flew away, did you understand how that happened? Crosscutting short lengths & widths in that manner is extremely foolish and dangerous to yourself and anybody around you. >Always use the miter gauge/guide or better yet a sled.

Take the rip fence off when cross cutting. Just use the sliding mitre fence set square to the blade. I can't believe it cut through the mild steel!

The thing that worries me with evolution is everybody including themselves only bang on about the blade rather than the actual unit the only purpose for these blades is on a hand held saw for cutting up floor boards as that's the only thing you would ever use these blades on ,I own the evolution mitre saw I thought the blade was absolute crap it makes a mess of a cut pretty much like a damaged blade would, so I bought a very expensive blade to put on it and it now works fine and I'm in the trade and I use tools a lot ....maybe evolution should send me saws I would run them through the mill for all to see ,I wonder if these machines could incorporate a stacked blade or if the blade change is easy or if the motor can handle heavy use like all day on site or is it just good for cutting 3x2 with nails in it which if I'm honest I've never thought to put through a saw in 17 years in the trade
