The Evolution Fury 5 S table saw is a table saw that can cut wood, metal or plastic all with the same blade. This machine has a 10 inch blade or 255mm which enables it to cut material up to 70mm deep. You can easily cut aluminium or steel with the same blade that you use to cut wood or plastic making this a very versatile machine.
This machine was kindly sent to me by Evolution to review.

Nice review. Would recommend using a stop block on cross cuts instead of the fence. Danger of pinching the cut off and it kicking back. I’ve a hole in my shed wall to remind me 😬

Yes - you should never use the mitre gauge and the fence together on a table saw.

Getting work caught is a common problem, not just on this machine. The best investment with any table saw is a digital angle finder as you cannot trust any dial adjustment for accuracy - not a lot on eBay!

Correct me if I am wrong, I was taught that If you have to lift the blade that high to clear the safety guard the blade is too high to efficiently and safely cut the wood, with the blade teeth so far above the wood you risk the wood binding on the blade. More blade above the wood, more blade exposed which is a danger in itself. Quick google and there is a lot of information on blade height and safety.
@ColinDH12345
@ColinDH12345 8 жыл бұрын
Wow... don't normally comment on safety but you shocked me by cutting with everything pushed up to the fence, Very lucky you didn't get kick-back on all of those pieces trapped between the blade and the fence. Hope beginners weren't watching. This is my only comment on safety ever, so dont attack me, but PLEASE be careful what you show especially when targeted at beginners. Seems like a great machine and I love the multi-purpose adjustment wheel at the beginning. Clever idea. Thanks for the review.

+Colin Herbert Thanks Colin, I didn't realise I was doing something dangerous. I always cross cut timber like that and have never had any kickback. Thanks for the comment ;-)
@caskwith
@caskwith 8 жыл бұрын
+Colin Herbert The saw has a riving knife and crown guard, kickback is all but impossible even if he does cut up against the fence, you will note it is also a short fence rather than full length which reduces kickback even further. Now had he been using a full length fence and no knife or crown guard, I would have been agreeing with you.
@ColinDH12345
@ColinDH12345 8 жыл бұрын
+caskwith I agree and you know that and I know that, but a beginner may not. Also they may not know what those things are, or the consequences of removing them. They may also cut timber very similar in dimension to the decking where it completes the cut and never gets to the riving knife. It was the context of a beginner's machine that concerned me, that they may think its OK to push wood up to the fence and make a crosscut. In a kick-back situation the length of the fence probably wouldnt be an issue since its longer than the rising part of the blade. Nice responses from people which makes it a pleasure to comment. Thanks for the clarification... maybe I could have expressed my concerns a little more clearly.

Colin Herbert You do make some good points there. I guess its impossible to cover everything in videos like this. Hopefully anyone buying a saw will read the safety instructions, use some common sense and do a little research.

Disappointed you didn't mention the nasty build quality on these machines. I own one, and all the fittings have had to be replaced/modified. The only saving grace is the blade & motor. It is SO the worst Chinese quality. You get what you pay for, I guess.

the late paul daniels severed his two fingers using a similar saw and when they stitched them back they accidentally attached the nerves the wrong way around on one digit. so when he picked something up it felt like it was pressing on his nail, instead of his fingertip.

they just need a slot instead of a hole at the back of the guard, thats how most saws do it, so it will raise and drop down again (a little note for evolution for next time) i do like the vaccuum on top of the guard though, it will get a lot of the dust out. making the guard clear plastic might be an idea too. otherwise top marks, two deep keyslots make this better than a lot of saws (I am still amazed at the steel cutting compared to how it was in the old days when a nail was a major drama!) I hope to see a review of the multipurpose table mitre saw, as its size is handy!

@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 8 жыл бұрын
+Colin Herbert They last me ages. I have the Rage 3B which is about 4 years old, it has not cut that much steel but has cut a lot of decking/3*2/4*2 etc. I have cut a fair bit of steel on the Rage 3 DB and that blade still cuts perfectly. For most people one of the Evolution blades should last several years.

Does that fence do a good job at keeping at 90 degrees? The one I have at the moment you need a set square or something to set it, as well as a tape measure, etc. Kind of makes it a bit of a handful (but it was somewhat cheaper, so to be expected).

I got one from B@Q the other day for £90.00 you get what you pay for but for doing a shed or carport it should be fine. I think if you were going to do serious woodworking then you would have to look else where. Most table saws of the higher price range have a much higher speed for a cleaner cut but because this is able to cut other materials such as steel they have reduced the rpm to stop over heating.
