Could this be the future of second-hand shopping?

Consignment stores have been doing this for a long time, but the branding was always "vintage" clothing. I think this will be a natural transition for second-hand shopping.

I mean, for this to be profitable the price of renting a rack is probably very high, so the clothing that are hanging there are going to be expensive, so this kind of second hand shopping is definitely not for everyone. Also imagine the mess of clothes getting mixed up throughout the store, and like where do you hang sometime if the tag fell off lol.

The prices are a lot more affordable than buying new. Since the seller sets the price, the price of items inevitably vary. Obviously the seller has to take into account the cost of the rack, but you can compare it to Depop taking a commission on your sale. The seller is paying for the platform to sell. When it becomes unprofitable for the seller, they can remove their items. I used this store as an example because it has proven to be successful and it is a well-used store in the community. I’m not saying it’s a perfect concept, but I think it is an innovative idea and a nice step towards making sustainable fashion more accessible.

@@VintageThirsty yeeeeah, we're definitely from different realities a bit I live in the "developing" world where we get shippings with second hand clothes from the west and local people buy them 0,3-1,3€ a piece, out of need more than cause they fancy. I guess if a country's middle class is broad, it can afford and has enough consciousness to shop in hipster second hand shops like the one in the video, that's definitely better than buying new

I'm a bit confused here. Isn't this just a basic flea market? I'm kinda missing which part's innovative here?

At a flea market you cant leave your stand. This is a flea market you can have open for weeks while continuing your life like normal. Also no negotiation of price or having to talk talking to customers. Also , way easier trying clothing in a store like this than how it normally is on flea markets where they sometimes don’t even have a mirror. So You won’t by anything think it will fit and it turns out it didint

@@jibber2000 What the hell!?! Okay, now I'm even more confused. Are flea markets NOT done this way everywhere? At least here in Finland self-service flea markets like this can be found virtually everywhere and I've just grown around them. This isn't exactly a new invention :D

@@maisaranki6236nope nope i mean i live in Germany and in a lot of other (I'd argue most) it's just like the first person mentioned - you can't leave the stand and it's only for a few hours

what is second hand shopping like elsewhere? i thought it was like this everywhere (i live in finland)
@jibber2000

In Sweden, the normal second hand shopping is leaving a bag of clothes to the store, they sell it and the then keep the money. And you dont get to det the price yourself.Rarely the store will give you the money from sold clothing to you.
