I agree with you. We have good high school football players here in Alabama that might not have the talent but know how to work to get better. I would rather have linemen that are average but with coaching & hard work can win the line of scrimmage. The same goes for any player on the field.

100% correct. This has been an issue all years. I was like you , "is it a learning curve" "is it you guys that need time to grow?" But no, it's the style of defense. They attacked in the first half of the GA game and it showed. In the 2nd half we stopped attacking and it showed. Tired of seeing our guys "catch" ball carriers.

Preach!! The defense let GA come back from being down 28 and allowed Vandy to hang 40!! These coordinators are paid KINGLY salary and yet this BS happens! Something has to give!! This what I am thinking. Why isn't Jahim Oatis and TIm Keenan out there THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE MADE for. If this is Nick Saban's defense they would have been out there. 0:41 That why Jahim is transferring. I thought our interior defense would be better than this seeing how they looked last year and didnt really lose anyone except our edge guys Dallas and Braswell. We kept Tim Keenan, Oatis, and Tim Smith. I just dont like Kane Wommack's defense and how he puts personnel on the field. It just different from Saban's defense and you could tell. Honestly thought our interior defense was going to be good this year and our linebackers. I understand the corner and db room having hiccups and there was question marks on the edge guys because Braswell and Dallas leaving but our whole defense looked inept. That was solely on the defensive coordinator not having his guys on the same page and looking at the right things. I was afraid when Kalen Daboer became head coach because of the defense and though we were going to look like LSU from last year. That might be the case.

Against a triple option based offense your defensive line has to stay parallel to line of scrimmage. Them getting upfield just creates more gap for them to run through. Them staying parallel provides a chance for the inside backers to secure the ball handler. Our D line kept running themselves out of plays. That allows their guards and TEs to get a hat on our backers. Nebraska black shirt defense defended the triple option perfectly if you go watch them you’ll see how their d line never went upfield they held their ground or slanted. RTR

Sometimes u gotta slow the game down and give the D some rest. We saw this in the Georgia game too. Up two scores and snapping the ball with 20+ on the shot clock

Everyone needs to forget Jeremy Pruitt. It ain't happening. It'll be a rainy day in Hell before Greg Sankey allows him back into the conference. Besides, I don't know if I trust him to run anything on his without a Rush Propst or Nick Saban on top of him to get the best out of him. Especially now that he's been out of football for, what, 4 years now? Dude hasn't even seen a football field for several years. We also have to ask ourselves if he would he even be an asset anymore in the NIL & transfer portal era. They ran Nickel for almost the entire game. Guys were in position to make plays and the got their asses kicked. Look at the counter dive where Vandy’s RB lowered his shoulder and drove Lawson six yards into the endzone. That’s execution; not scheme.

I've thought the DL has been soft for years. I don't remember the last time they were dominate. Don't get me wrong Dallas Turner and Will Anderson could get sacks from the edge, but they couldn't hold up to the run. When is the last time they had a dominate DT? Quinnen Williams was the last I can think of and that was 2018. I'm starting to believe that it isn't just a scheme thing and that it's a DL coach thing. They are not getting development out of any of these guys, and they are all 4- and 5-star guys.

I got tired of watching an Offense run down our throat! The old days, we took away the run and made an offense one dimensional. Force them to throw. No adjustment at halftime, even I know put 5 down on the line, run blitz, blitz and change up. Our pass rush is non existent! Our offense has to slow down, otherwise that D will be on the field the whole game. W3 score in 1 1/2 min, then the d is out there for 9 min.

Nick Saban ran a 4-2-5 his final years here also. The difference is Wommack is mostly using three down linemen and not blitzing at all.
