I have also used many different types of clay and ended up sticking to the more expensive clay bars as they mould easier, meet the paint better and seem to haze much less overall. After watching this video I will give this cloth a try so thanks for taking the time to show us just what this cloth can do.

Love the video. The format. The added graphics, excellent sound. Great video, Sandro. This towel looks like, as others have said, the Rag Company towel, which was derived from Optimum's Ultra Clay Towel. If similar to those, I absolutely agree with you. Such a great towel. Foaming is good. I also like spraying iron remover (Ferrex) into it directly. Saves me a ton of product that way vs spraying the paint.

Have you tried the Bowden's Own claying rubber? It's got a similar surface, with void spaces, but not actual 'air holes'. It's on a foam backing layer and is just a claying pad essentially. It's definitely not as aggressive as the Waxit Clay Mitt (which is sometimes good for heavy contamination), but leaves much less marring.

Additionally, your style of presenting and your calm voice are like a chill therapy for me. Thanks for creating this content. I’m not a detailer, i just enjoy taking care of my car. Or is this best to go to someone who does it professionally? Thanks!
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
I appreciate that and it’s my pleasure mate. Periodic claying is vital to remove contamination that would otherwise degrade car paint, it also has the advantage of allowing car waxes and sealant to bond more successfully and last longer to protect your car paint better. In most cases clay marring is quite minimal if done correctly and no more visible than light washing swirls or haze. I would say try it yourself, worst case scenario is that it does cause some minor marring that a very fine polishing stage will easily remove - any pro detailer with even minimal polishing experience can address that easily.

@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
With synthetic clay, the particles don’t so much bond to the clay, they get suspended in the clay lubricant so you rinse them off the car along with the panel, but yes you can also just rinse the clay in a bucket or with a hose or pressure washer to remove any particles on the actual clay.

@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and claying can cause some micro marring especially if you have a soft paint which is why a light polish is recommended afterwards but also not mandatory. If I couldn’t polish I’d still tend to clay because it is very beneficial to the paints health to remove that contamination which degrades car paint over time. If you don’t have a machine polisher, try using something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish by hand, it’s very easy to use and should clean up any clay marring and improve the look of the paint. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zma7fIOjmbGJq5I

I personally wouldn’t recommend claying over ceramic coated paint as all clay has abrasive qualities which can compromise the coating

How do you know when these mitts or towels are due for replacement because you can't see the dirt on them as they are all black or very dark grey!
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Synthetic clay won’t hold or store any dirt or particles like traditional clay - it releases it - so they only need replacement when their surface becomes warn out which is usually after years of use

I'm confused... There's NV Clarity (like an IPA) which I unfortunately can't get and then there's CarPro Clarify. What did you use? Can you clear up the confusion? Thanks!

Dosnt using clay MIT's keep contaminates in it though. Won't clay bars be better because you throw them out and don't use them on different cars. Hard to know when these black clay clothes are to dirty
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 4 жыл бұрын
The contamination doesn’t get imbedded on synthetic clay like it does on traditional clay, it rinses off and gets suspended on the car so you rinse it off to remove it - it’s a little different that way.

I've been using synthetic clay for about a year or so and I love it. What really sets this stuff apart from traditional clay is that you can drop it on the ground! If it were to slip out of your grip and hit the floor you can simply rinse it and continue claying your car. You cannot do that with traditional clay bars.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

Yes it’s definitely a big plus about synthetic clay!

James T. I don't know who ever said you cant use a claybar that you accidently dropped, but this is just not true... So cant you look at it, see if it has anything stuck to it and remove it??? Heck, they make claybar cleaner sprays that you spray and it takes off a micro layer of the clay, and all the gunk stuck to it off... Pretty sure the people that banned claybars that hit the ground, to the trash can are the very people who Sell them.... Hilarious...

Few questions: How big of a section do you clay with that towel at a time? And would it be better to rinse each section off as you go like in the video, or can you save the rinse for after you've gone over the entire car? I have hard well water, so it's typically a race against time between rinsing and drying my car off so I'd most likely have to dry each section a bit as well if the clay lube can't sit on the car. Also, do you do anything special with the towel other than rinsing it off between panels?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
The less contamination on the vehicle the larger sections you can clay, but if its quite heavily contaminated I’d stick to a square or half meter square at a time. You should rinse before your clay lube or chemical starts to dry on the paint, so that will depend on your lube and weather conditions, and yes I just rinse the towel off - mist of the particles will actually be suspended on the car panel as they don’t stick to synthetic clay as much as they do to traditional clay

That looks like an awesome clay cloth. Personally, I've used The Rag Company's Ultra Clay Towel and a couple of cars with the Mitt. The towel induced a LOT of damage on the paint. In one instance, I had to Compound 2 times to remove the deep scratches. It got me really frustrated of course. The mitt seemed to work awesome, but on the last car I used it on, it may have caused scratches again. Will test it out when I get the chance. Anyway, I've ordered these Aero Clay Cloths from the US (I'm in EU). If these don't work either, I'm most likely at fault. What is your experience with the Ultra clay towel and mitt? They look similar, but like you said, they could be worlds apart.

Rik Heijne - If you are getting a lot of damage, you are not using enough liquid whatever, and possibly rubbing the media too hard into the paint... You want to only use Straight, back and forth or up and down strokes on that panel, nothing else if possible... And you have to keep the force - Evenly - applied across that work, and at the same time, keep it all really wet... Read my first post at the top for more info about how I keep my work wet and never have any marring, etc., problems... Good luck with this !
