is there a way to transfer graded clips from baselight to resolve without rendering timeline?

I don't think Filmlight has to offer a permanent license solution like Blackmagic does for Resolve. What I do think would be good is to have a premium subscription full software version, like how audodesk charges like $5k a year for flame. This would allow smaller post houses or even freelance colorists that are more comfortable with baselight and really want that experience to get it without needing to get the full turn key solution. As someone who was let go during the pandemic and had been on baselight for the better part of 5 years at that point I really wanted to be able to use it move into a more freelance market but with how much the cost is for the full hardware solution as is that just isn't possible and you are basically forced to move over to resolve. I know several other people that have had to do the same when going freelance or moving to a smaller studio that just can't afford to get even a single baselight when starting let alone multiple upfront. So I agree Filmlight and Blackmagic are 2 very different companies but I feel like there is a middle ground solution as a premium subscription that would allow for more people to really use baselight without having access to one the color houses that run it.

I couldn't agree more. IWhat does a 100k Baselight system offer over a 40k high end resolve system? Not worth the 60k difference

exactly.... i agree with you so much

This still makes Baselight Look not a solution for starting a grade and then moving into a professional studio to use the full version of Baselight. At this point it make sense to still use Resolve for some projects if you can't access the facilities gear

It depends on your workflow - let's say that you were grading a short film with 15-30 shots. You could do the grades in Baselight LOOK, export BLGs and re-apply them manually in a full Baselight suite fairly easily/quickly. Or, alternatively, you could just finish and render in Baselight LOOK if the rendering restrictions aren't a deal breaker 🙂
