I'm glad I'm not the only person who felt the 1.0 release of Coral Island felt rushed. There was just *too much* that wasn't done for it to have been the dev's idea to release it when they did. And the fact that 1.1 went from "teased" to "released" without any lead up also had me wondering if it was pushed out the door before the devs were ready. Given how quickly Humble Games announced their closure after the update, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah I agree too. I mean it was the DAY after the concil releases that the layoffs happened. And I know councils are not a huge fan of pre 1.0 releases. Also it would cause chaos if PC users were still in open beta while Xbox and Playstation were in offical release even thought it's the same game.

Coral Island is such a fun game, and I really hate to hear this kind of news where people are treated as recyclable. This game is about all I play because there's so much to do and to discover. I was really happy with the recent update but it's terrible to hear the state of the company and workers.

Coral Island is just too beautiful of a game. You can actually feel the love and care the devs have for the game and as an Indonesian myself, seeing so much of our beautiful culture incorporated into this game is just *chef's kiss*. I hope Coral Island can withstand the many challenges it faces and continue to develop well in the future, just like how Stardew Valley thrives, i want the same future for this beautiful game.

This is 100% speculation but I kind of feel that the 1.1 update was also a bit pushed. Unless it's just timing but I do find it strange how that came out and less than 24 hours we heard the news about Humble. Coral Island is probably my favorite farming sim I have ever played and I am hopeful with the future of the game and the devs. With all this coming out I hope that people can be understanding and more kind to devs and remember that they are just like us and they also have rules and NDA's. While this might not change one thing I hope is that publishers are open with devs (assuming they can be) ahead of time and not have devs find out hard news like that when everyone else finds out.

I feel so bad for the Coral Island Devs. They worked so hard and put out a beautiful and full game only to be fired the minute they pushed out 1.1. 😢

Just to clarify, the Coral Island developers (Stairway Games) were not fired, the people from Humble Games (the publishing company) were the ones fired. However that still means the people at Stairway are facing difficulties, but like Sarah said we can still be hopeful that the team will be able to overcome them. They are still working hard as we can see in their developer diary every weekday on their discord.

That's really sad for switch users, especially if they can't play in pc (no pc or not meeeting the pc requirements or disabilities). But I still hope that CI would somehow be able to get the backend access on other platforms because they're still not done updating the game, and who knows, they might be able to port this to switch. I'm still hopeful because other devs in humble games would be fighting too so CI isn't alone in this situation. I was in shock tho how Humble Games did this 180 moves so suddenly without telling the game devs under them and work out something, CI knew this from social media!

I personally am not too worried about Coral Island after seeing that Eric Barone aka the creator of Stardew Valley was able to do after he broke away from Chucklefish (who originally published SV) it might be bumpy for a while but the team has so much passion and dedication to the game that I think Coral Island will continue to get updates. After seeing all that is in 1.1 and how much more a lot of features make the game easier (do you know how much easier my quest for a rank would have been with the savannah unlocked???) I agree with others here that they were made to release 1.0 as it was instead of waiting for it to be fully finished with the 1.1 content included.

That new Palia pup and the Sailor-moon inspired fit are amazing!!! A Little to the Left physical game will be sooo cozy. I believe Stairway Games will get the support they need for Coral Island. This is the game of the century and other publishers may hop on board.

I hope stairway games gets things figured out, because I do love coral island. The situation reminds me of what happened to 7 days to die when Telltale went under as a publisher, basically updates halted permanently for consoles. Which again, I hope isn't the case, cause console has game breaking bugs at the moment.

I am a big follower of Coral Island but it doesnt run on my Notebook, and the only console i have is the Switch so i really can't support or even play the game if it doesnt come for Switch, and it's pretty weird they didnt make a port for switch as Switch players are the biggest consumers for cozy games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley

I think that team are so passionate about Coral Island that I would hate for us not to have the opportunity to explore their further creativity. I really think even the stuff we are playing now has been planned for SO long, you can only begin to image what other ideas they have, and I hope we get to explore it with them :(

My hype for coral Island went down since we had no updates for the switch version in almost 7 months it just sucks that most people like to talk down to switch players and tell people to buy. Laptop like y'all realize we play in switch for a reason? And don't prefer or just don't realize everyone can't get a laptop

THANK YOU FOR THIS. This makes total sense. Especially now hearing how the coral island devs are unable to get to the back end of consoles. These XBOX crashes have partly destroyed the most stunning game for us playing. The game is probably one of my all time favorites but its been so frustrating the game keep freezing on save and having to repeat the day. The fact I continue to still try and play around these bugs, sometimes redoing 1-2 hours of work is a testament to Coral Islands devs and the beautiful game they have created. I really hope a publisher recognises the talent these devs have and someone bigger and better comes along ASAP to support them. I hear XBOX may have even offered to support them which would just be brilliant. All we want is the game to stop crashing on sleep/before save. I agree, I feel like things will fall into place for them and I am praying for this too as honestly they are so incredibly talented. Please don't let this be the end for Coral Island :( We love you Coral Island Devs, keep going

I’ve been holding off on getting Coral Island until it was more fleshed out so I didn’t feel like I had to wait for more big main story content to be updated and added to the game. ever thought about talking about the cancelled game project dragon also known as Everhaven? a beautiful game that was pretty close to being revealed and then a few months after released. All the artwork and gameplace was able to be shown by the creators. It currently has a petition to bring this game back into development. it was a beautiful cozy open world co-op game and even had gameplay footage

I have always wanted Coral Island on Switch and maybe that will come true someday. I have played it on PC since day 1 of early access. I am loving the 1.1 update although it has crashed on me twice. A slightly cheaper option for those that want to play it still but can’t afford a pc is to get a steam deck. I know not everyone can do this but just throwing that option out there. I myself might get a steam deck since I play the game on ps5

While I don't have a Switch, I feel sad for the future of Coral Island, especially for the Switch. At least Stairway isn't the developer but still. I do think that Sun Haven is doing good though (despite their promise of releasing it soon after full release), after it released its huge 1.4 update, and while I don't know the exact date, my guess is that it should be there by end of 2024.

I'm so frustrated right now, I fell in love with coral island but my ps5 game save file got corrupted or something and I lost my last 14 ingame days. I got to the first day of winter, but my game save file reverted to Fall 17th. I don't have cloud storage and the ingame backup shows only Fall 16th. I'm speechless.

I don't mean to be negative, but I am NOT happy with Humble Games. 😡 All their posturing about how difficult firing their staff was, and how they want to help their former employees sounds like gaslighting to me. Firing people (who have done nothing wrong) without notice or warning is a d*ck move (Pardon my language) no matter how much they try to pretty it up. 😤 The only thing that could make it more palatable, would be if Humble Games gave their former employees a generous severance package, but I fear that is not likely considering their stated concerns about cost. And, to not warn their clients that there was going to be a disruption in service? Shortsighted at best. Humble's lack of transparency is concerning. To say the least, this is not a good look for Humble Games. 💩

As much as I feel for all the employees if I can't play multiplayer on my x-box I'm going to be hounding Coral Island for a refund. It was a struggle to get a console so I could play with my friends irl and so far it was a pretty bad decision given the lack of couch co-op titles. I'm sure they can expect to be review bombed on Steam as well given this situation despite it not being entirely their fault.

I’m so upset about Coral Island. I play on Xbox and I’d just started playing not long before 1.1 released and had just hit rank A like 2 days before it was. So I figured that was a sign to romance Semeru… yeah I’ve got the bug where the chaperone quests aren’t triggering which means I can’t progress any hearts and as such can’t get married or anything. 🫠 I was thoroughly enjoying it so the fact that I’m just… stuck now is heartbreaking and I hope Stairway Games is able to get everything sorted. I can’t imagine how stressful this is for them.
