That was cool, I made a model of the race car I drive in Assetto Corsa so I could use it as a learning tool for the championship. Then Covid hit, so I ended up running a virtual championship for the race drivers in the UK and one in Europe. One of the things that happened was that I found how to drive beyond reality, because of the tyre model being wrong in AC, and then had to spend a lot of time researching and changing the model to work more realistically for the other race drivers. So interesting to hear Jeff talking about the tyre model, its definitely the hardest thing to get right. iRacing tyre model used to horrible, its a bit better now, but its still got a bunch of things that aren't great.

It's great to have this chat on you tube. We are friends with Andrea Quintarelli and yes, he's a kind of genius... We make simulators, we make car models, we make tires models, we run with pro drivers: it's a whole world you can not even imagine! ...and we bet our simulators are better ;-)

Amazing to watch :) If a driver has the skills and experience on how to drive a racecar, simulator is enough to prepare for a new track or new challange (and will be able to push from the very first lap). And yes, thats why I'm a tiny bit slower on simulator than in real life, because I'm driving the simulator as a real car, not as the "bugs" are allowing. Simulator for me is preparartion for real life (because of the lack of enough money) and not to be a world champion in it :) I prepared for the Nordschleife on simulator and I was the fastest on my very first event there with M240i.

Another great ep, guys. I'll listen to Jeff teaching Sam all kinds of things. Also, at least in IndyCar on ovals, sure seems like there's a lot to learn about modelling aero in traffic, which makes some sense, given everything I've heard about the differences between following one car vs two vs a pack of ten. Probably some corrollaries to IMSA at Daytona too.

Great episode. Nice insight from Jeff about iRacing tracks accuracy, and Factor is still being used by Andrea.
