NIO is doing amazing things now doing aprox 60k swaps per day in China alone. Having a car that can super charge and swap is a game changer. There are so many benefits to swapping that most people don't understand...yet. Great video thanks!

I’m glad you liked it 😉I totally agree. Swapping the battery is so convenient! You sit comfortably inside the car and leave with a full battery in 4 minutes. 🤯 AND as the battery technology will evolve… you’ll also be able to upgrade to better battery tech and longer ranges… why aren’t the other brands following this?

@@luisportasmaybe too hard or can't be bothered doing this, but as more and more manufacturers partner with NIO, they'll probably have to join NIO or lose sales.

Hola. Thanks for watching!! I’m glad you liked the video, more to come. I think all batteries last for many years (15+)… but they gradually lose storage capacity - just like our phones do. What I love about the possibility to exchange the battery is that you can upgrade it to the latest battery tech, and substantially increase your range 🤩
@skasey4080 Жыл бұрын
depends on which size battery you have or leasing, batteries are charged at swap stations to max 93% and a 75kw battery gives range of 420km theoretically but much less depends on aircon and other equipment consumption. a 100Kw battery give a range of 520km (at 93% charge). you can upgrade from 75kw to 100kw if traveling and you get charged per day until you return to your normal size. I have 75KW battery but when i travel i sometimes swap first to 93% then at same location and behind the swap station there is a charger which i use to go from 93% to 100% and pay a small fee (couple of dollars) for the charging.

This is old generation battery Swap ? I believe Gen.3 no need to turn power off during swapping
@luisportas Жыл бұрын
🤔 I actually don’t know what battery swap generation it was. I guess I need to make some more testing 😏
@skasey4080 Жыл бұрын
power is always "off" during swapping with Gen. 1 , 2 or 3. I think Europe has Gen.2 or 3 only. As Gen.1 requires manning and driven in by a Nio technician.

No need to buy a new car because of batter upgrade. Old cars can have New battery tech.

Seeing this being a thing is cool...But I can't help thinking that a human could slide a dead battery out of their car, place it in a receiving area for recharging, pick up a new battery _and_ slide it back into their car a *lot* faster than a current robot could manage. 🔋🏋👍 As per mobile phones and laptops, car manufacturers seem to be resolute on making their batteries such that they can't be replaced by humans... 🍎
@luisportas Жыл бұрын
That would definitely be a strong human 💪🏼💪🏼 I think these batteries are super heavy. The fact that you’re just chilling inside the car protected from the elements, while the machine is doing all the work (substituting the battery, making sure all systems are operational… etc) is a great advantage to me. But the best selling point is that next year (?) when a new battery tech comes out that doubles the range - we’ll be able to upgrade our vehicle with zero effort 🤩

So they can't be stolen easily, the process also needs a digital signature.

@@luisportas Personally, I prefer to employ human effort _before_ mechanisation if I can. Mechanisation will always be in finite supply, so if I can do it by myself then why not. 😇 I've been in a circumstance (A conference) where the two main areas were on the opposite ends of a 30-floor lift ride. The queue for the lifts was so long that once I'd sussed out where the stairwell was, I used that instead. ↗ Granted, I can't climb 30 floors as quickly as an Otis express lift...But when you _include_ the waiting time I was a good five minutes quicker going up, and eight minutes quicker going down! 🏃💨😁 What concerned me a bit here was that the British deligate would happily sprint up/down 60 flights of stairs, but none of the local American deligates gave it a shot... 😳
