The Future of Freedom with Tulsi Gabbard

Tulsi Gabbard is a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves, Iraq War veteran, former
Congresswoman, and 2020 presidential candidate.
Tulsi was elected the U.S. representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district from
2013 to 2021. During her time in office, she served on the Homeland Security
Committee, the Armed Services Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the
Financial Services Committee. From 2013-2016, Tulsi served as Vice Chair of the
Democratic National Committee. In 2019, she launched her 2020 presidential
campaign, becoming the first female combat veteran to run for president. In October of
2022, Tulsi announced her departure from the Democrat Party.
In this episode, Jack and Tulsi discuss the significance of the Constitution, emphasizing
its relevance for elected officials, as well as students from primary school to college.
Tulsi enlisted in the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2003. In 2004, she deployed for a
year-long tour to Iraq where she served as a medical specialist. After being
commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, she was stationed in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009,
serving as a Military Police Officer. In July 2021, she was promoted to Lieutenant
Colonel.

I really hope she means what she's been saying. I don't trust anyone who runs for public offfice, largely because for the last 40-45 years I've seen how politicians consistently say "all the right things" when running for office, only to take a big fat Scheiße on America after they win their election. @@dashcammer4322 Well honestly, one can look the other way on a lukewarm 2A stance from her, since the Supreme Court is fairly secure for longer than her career can plausibly run anyway. If she is VP and Trump gets Killaried by the deep state, she won't be able to flip against 2A since the court will shut down anything she does. Same court will likely persist 2028-2036 if she's the act that follows Trump. Also, has to be careful not to tripwire 2A if she does plan to follow Trump, since she will get wiped in the primary and lose billions in donations if she does. As long as she isn't offensively hostile to 2A and basically just leaves the whole topic alone, that's good enough to give her a chance with the other really important issues like border security, cleaning up all the international drama and for fuck sake balancing the budget.

When I was in 7th grade in Missouri, I had to learn both the U.S. Constitution and the Missouri Constitution. We were tested on it and, if we failed, we didn't move on to the 8th grade. This should still be taught today. Not just in MO but in every state in the union.

Years ago on a college campus, I asked students if they would support an amendment to the Constitution that would reserve the rights and powers to the states and the people that were not specifically granted to the national government in the Constitution itself. Not a single one recognized the 10th Amendment. Many of them felt that adding something like that would cripple the federal government, or that it would result in too many states doing things that would contradict what other states were doing. Nobody, not one, had ever actually studied the US government, including the Constitution, and understood why limits on national power are critical.

8 times Representative Gabbard voted for gun control legislation. I'm a 2A supporter and a gun owner. I don't trust her with our rights guaranteed in the bill of rights. When asked about this (another podcast) she says she was "uninformed about the bills" and "pressured into voting for the bills". You are a war vet and a Lt. Col. in the army and an elected official of the house of representatives and you were uninformed and or pressured into voting for these bills? Sorry, I don't buy her story when it comes to limiting or taking away our rights and how many decisions has she made in a theatre of combat that were uninformed or she was pressured into making. FISA bill extension, she voted to approve it, which takes away our 4th amendment rights. I'm glad she's out talking about these issues but, I'm not going to support her based on her past record of voting. Not to mention she is now a Trump supporter??? I don't buy it. She sounds like a politician who is trying to extend her political career.

Listen for a minute. I like her and I want to trust her. She is now saying all the right things. But, consider this. In her not to distance past she did not believe in the 2nd Amendment. Now I understand people change their position on things.But, I do not trust her reasoning and logic when she was anti gun. It suggests a limited analyst of the Constitution. If her intellect then allowed her to discard the 2nd Amendment, what is to say that reasoning has turned because she now truly believes, or alternatively, it is politically favorable to her to change. It is possible she is just as untrustworthy as she was before. I hope I am wrong, but 40 years as a Peace Officer tells me I am not wrong

Yes, she's telegenic and sounds good. So do many actors. Lots of men fall for a hottie. Not a chance in hell that he'll pick her. Her established voting record on certain issues (gun rights for one), as well as the newness of her re-invention (I've seen the light, I'm no longer a gun grabber, really! blah blah) after being a lifelong member of one gun-grabbing party. Yes, I know Trump was a nominal Democrat, but he switched long BEFORE he ever ran for elected office. She hasn't even become GOP, she just switched to independent after the wind shifted. She's not rich enough to coast for decades; she still needs to make money.

What people today do not understand is that although I don't agree with what you are saying or what god you believe in, or even if you don't believe in God at all, that is your right and I will fight and die for your right to say and believe that. Therefore, you have no right to attack me for what I say or the God I believe in. That is where our country has left our constitution. If what I believe or say offends you or hurts your feelings, you are the one with the problem. To censor the conversation because it offends you is dangerous and irresponsible.

I think she's very impressive and she's talking a good show...to any news show or podcast who will put her on. I hope she's sincere. But her bad record stands. I need to see her actually do something positive as a politician. I think she is stumping for an appointment in the second Trump administration. We shall see. I think her "epiphany" on 2A is weak. She says she finally realized what "...shall not be infringed" really means. WTF did she ever think it meant? It's pretty straightforward.
