Maybe I won the panel lottery or I just found some settings to optimize the panel, but I kinda disagree with some points in your review. I have to admit I'm using the panel with the black equalizer cranked up ingame, which might just mask the slower transitions and the resulting overshoot. Overshoot: Overshoot is not noticable in 95% of situations in games like CS:GO or valorant. Atleast on my unit overshoot is only visible in fast vertical movements. Aim Stabilizer (Aim Destroyer): I'm using this monitor in a lit room at 30% brightness and with aim stabilizer on. I have not seen any other monitor strobing this well, except maybe my tuned zowie XL2540. Theres barely any crosstalk and minimal overshoot on the left side, which is really not noticable ingame. Just check out this testfile on google drive: file/d/164GBVgBBpRuYNtNBYRS5YvT4wIHM9SR4/ EDIT// After looking into it, turning off the black equalizer (to the standard setting 10) seems to worsen both overshoot and crosstalk significantly. Turning the black equalizer to 0 basically makes the monitor unusable. It was also not mentioned, that this monitor has a BGR subpixel-layout, which means text on screen can appear blurry and edges of windows or images can appear reddish/blueish, which makes it look a bit unpleasing to look at.

The question here is that is the jump from 144 hz to 240 hz worth all that money. the future of monitors will be OLED with black frame insertion. no, black frame insertion is not "flickering" like the way a backlight flickers. it will feel completely different than when a backlit monitor strobes its backlight.... it may seem the same because you turn the pixels off early, but this becomes an ideal of sample and hold, aka the way the technology works. however, OLED with BFI is a god send. the lack of motion blur, being akin to a CRT, is godly. I have tested people playing on CRT vs modern LCD and they are easily able to hit shots they couldn't on an LCD because CRT is so "up to date" with that is actually going on in the game. Blur Busters has a great article on this. OLED with BFI gets EXTREMELY close to behaving like a CRT in the sense of displaying whats going on as it is. A slow monitor will show a guy at location A, while in reality he is at location B. its a small window and you might think "no big deal" but again, a CRT is better for FPS gaming than ANY current gaming monitor. the future is OLED with BFI. even 60hz OLED with BFI is akin to 240hz on typical "flicker free" LCDs.... let that sink in. Meaning 120hz with BFI on OLED should be akin to 480hz. Again, talking about motion blur (the lack there of) and response time of seeing whats actually happening as it happening. I could 100% go for a 27" 4k 60hz BFI OLED monitor right now. But all the monitor brands are fucking lazy, and would rather give users 1080p 144hz which cost them LESS than 50 dollars to make, but sell for $250 new! Its bullshit. All they care about is profit, not pushing technology forward.
@goblinphreak21323 жыл бұрын
Adding on, I would not use that shitty program to color calibrate. Its fucking horrible. I would rather use X-Rite's official software over that stupid program. And seeing what professionals use, they wouldn't touch that 3rd party software either even though it seems like everyone and their mother recommends it.... I have tested calibration on both program, and while some may say "your preference is subjective to your own taste" I would say bullshit. Because if the whole idea of tuning a monitor is to get color accuracy, they should both, in theory, get the exact same results, considering the only thing changing is the program (both using d65 whitepoint and both using the same 120 nits target). Therefore, I can only detest using said 3rd party app, when buying an x-rite product you get use of their fantastic software as is. IF ANYTHING, you would want to step it up and use actual professional software, which cost 1000's of dollars and isn't worth it for consumers.

Is a 27 inch monitor too big for competitive FPS games?
@sexyyoda75673 жыл бұрын
@@zezeba2471 depends on the resolution. If it's 2k, it's probably fine. If it's 1080P, it's still fine but you won't get the best experience. But as far as esports is concerned, 1080P is often chosen so as to squeeze more frames.

Modern gfx cards have data streaming compression which allows higher resolutions than this at high refresh rates. The Samsung G9 for example will allow 5120x1440 (7 million pixels) at 240hz with RGB chroma subsampling at 10 bit colour.

It seems many reviewers are preferring the 27 inch size for gaming. I could never go back to a 27 inch after using a 32 inch monitor though. 1440p on 32 inch is fine for me.
@riba22333 жыл бұрын
I could, I had 32 and went for 27. My desk is just too small and I was sitting a bit to close for comp gaming. For everything else it's fine though.

I was using a 32 Acer Z321qu to game and for work for long time and felt immersive, but ended up switching back to my Asus pg279q for the sharper picture quality and better response times. Also the Acer was VA vs IPS on the Asus. I confess I do like both 27" and 32" 1440p both have their advantages and disadvantages, but lately leaned more towards the former, which informed my decision to get this Aorus upgrade to pair with my new 6900xt ultimate upgrade from a 1080ti

In the video you mention that 1440p 240Hz is not really necessary for E-Sports titles, but more usefull for games like Warzone and Apex. What kind of framerates were you playing at for those games? I'm asking this question, because getting arround 144fps would make these monitors somewhat redundant, cause you could just buy a 1440p 144Hz panel at less than half the price.
@elliottd3233 жыл бұрын
You need a 700 dollar card to get the most of it

I considered buying this kind of monitor but considering the price difference between this (the Aorus is 880€ in my country) and a 1440p 144Hz monitor like the LG27GN850 which i bought for just 260€, i really couldn't justify spending around 3x the price just for 240Hz which doesn't make much difference with 144Hz considering even with a rtx 3070 i'm having an hard time reaching over 160fps on WZ and Apex (playing on medium settings with a 3600)
@AxR5583 жыл бұрын
I honestly think we're about a GPU generation away from 240hz 1440p being hit. In warzone I get about 130-150fps at high settings/1440p on a 3080. I'd be paying for 100fps that I don't use (yet).

2:22 i thought Gigabyte Gaming monitors had a OSD software(OSD sidekick) where u can adjust all monitor settings via software and also have custom user profiles..better use software user profiles with different brightness settings and toggle it there itself..rather than using joystick button.

I'm not a fan of the 3 bezels under and 1 on top the screen design. In this case i would rather go with the new Alienware AW2721D or the LG27GN950's "4-side virtually borderless display" as LG likes to call it. This is me hoping a 27inch,1440p, 144Hz model makes it way to the market this year with a "borderless display".

I have the Alienware 27 240Hz monitor and love it. I was very iffy about buying it as you all my know, it's pretty pricey. Upon receiving it though, I got pretty excited. Color wise, it seems tool a bit off, due to the 8 to 10-bit color depth if I recall correctly. I can only game at 8-bit at 240hz versus 10-bit at 144 or 160Hz. Not sure if Alienware is suppose to come out with a firmware update to remediate that.

Nice review thank you. If you want to change brightness on a monitor with keyboard key (like mac os) you can do it with DDC/CI standard. I change brightness quite a lot every day, and it's really easy that way. More than all these anti-ergonomic UI for monitor.
