The Future of Humankind with Yuval Harari. What is the next stage of human evolution? How will we protect this fragile planet and humankind itself from our own destructive powers? Professor and author Yuval Harari envisions our future: a not-too-distant world in which we face a new set of challenges and possibilities. With his trademark blend of science, history, philosophy and every discipline in between, Harari investigates the projects, dreams and nightmares that will shape the twenty-first century.

So much must have happened throughout the long human history, of which we know but the tiniest fraction and understand even less than that... I would think we should start by acknowledging our ignorance and present only tentative ideas surrounded by great uncertainty. To the contrary, the speaker not only presumes to know and understand how we got to be the way we are (that would be sufficiently unbelievable), but on top of that explains everything with simple stories. He apparently believes that millions of years of human evolution are easier to capture and explain than last week's football game, which would require a far more complex presentation. The truth is that none of us has any idea about the complex path and multitude of forces at play during the long and complex history of humanity, except for certain tiny bits of evidence which we should interpret with great care and humility. I look forward to reading the book which no doubt will contain some of those tiny bits.

Mariza Cabral Should indeed read (study) his book “Sapiens”, it is perhaps one of thee most impactful books ever written...it helps to have had at least some natural science classes in college, with a “B” or better grade, otherwise it can be intellectually challenging to comprehend the historical stories & concepts...& have your Google device near & dear. Four hundred & sixteen pages, but a masterpiece.

There are two types of people those that know God and that are born-again and those that are not born-again. What overcomes the world is faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We are at the end of the world this man is part of the beast system. You want to see devils cast out watch Scoan and watch Christopher Orji. Yuval is exalting his soul. This man is enthroning his soul. The soul should be saved not enthrone or exalted. We have the word of God to obey which is able to save our soul. This man is a sinner. Sin is our enemy. Jesus Christ is the righteous.if you want truth read the Bible. If you want a good teacher listen to John G Lake and smith WigglesWorth and TB Joshua. Your spirit, soul, and body are very important.

@@tafdiz 3:03 The few industrialized nations basically conquered the world, subjulgated and exploited everybody else. Then he speaks that China took nearly 50 years to close the gap. Well, if China had adopted capitalism earlier, it would not took so long. It took that long because China was closed and communist, so it was not "exploited" and "subjulgated" by those evil industrialized nations that brings prosperity and wealth for each country they trade with.

@@jiahuacui7669 Britain tried to force China to become capitalist? What went wrong? Why China was communist for so long, millions died of starvation in the process, suffered unnecessarily for so many years, and only in the last decades it's finally opening its market, embracing capitalism, bringing wealth and prosperity for its people, why, despite Britain effort to show the wonders of capitalism, China didn't embrace it for so long??

Yeah, no. Resource depletion. Habitat degradation by pollution, topsoil loss, water scarcity, marine sources of protein depleted, climate instability affecting crops and infrastructure, and much much more. EROI on energy sources and essential minerals falling sharply(copper ore grades, rare earths such as lithium and others) even good quality sand for construction that’s unweathered. The low hanging fruit that made what we have now- is largely irreplaceably depleted or gone. There’s a lot more. So, decreasing resources meets increasing consumption and population meets a predatory economic system. You do the math. Account for all externalities, all of them and stop bullshitting yourself. Read William Catton on Overshoot, William Reese, Derrick Jensen. Thumbs down.
