What I have seen personally about AI is a simple example. A student of mine---I was teaching English to working professionals as a second language---was a designer. When he learned how to speak English, in one of our discussions, I asked him if he liked to do sketches or drawings or paintings at the weekends. Silence. He finally answered that in his company, the drawing course was deleted from the curriculum because the AI program from Apple was sufficient for him to do his job without knowing how to draw. Let that sink in: he was a draughtsman who never learned how to draw and who never had to learn how to draw to do his job! Here is the clincher: when I asked him if he was curious about learning how to draw for example, for pleasure or to paint a picture, his response shocked me to the core. He said he was jaur fine like that; he didn't want to learn how to draw because his program did it for him. He saw no reason to learn how to draw. This is what I think we have to worry about; people will gladly give up having to learn a skill if AI assisted programs can do it for them. To me, this is a red flag. This is one small example and I think as a society we have to draw a line somewhere about what we will let AI do. One last thing; what was appalling to me was that the company that hired him as a draughtsman willingly deleted the basic drawing class that used to be required. A drawing teacher lost his job because of Apple's program.
@T3Z1993 Жыл бұрын
Interesting. I am more familiar with Apple products than most, and I also happen to be an artist. As far as I know, Apple doesn’t have a first party application that draws for you but there are third party applications that can assist with the drafting process like autoCAD software. As an artist, I cringe at the idea of forfeiting all my sweat equity for AI to become the be-all and end-all. I create because I enjoy the simple yet ever complex process of creating. I wonder if your student feels the same or if he’s in it just for a payday

@@T3Z1993 GGGGGGGGGGGreat to hear from you. Thanks for fact-checking. I am only repeating what my former student told me, and what I understood was that all the people his age in the company never had to learn how to draw, the drawing class was deemed unnecessary by the administration. because the app could do the job. He said that all the people in the department who had learned how to draw could for example, draw a pair of glasses in perspective, whereas for him and his peers, it was much more difficult because they had never learned perspective. The most astounding thing for me is that he was not even curious to learn how to draw for his own pleasure! This is human nature: once you've got a dishwasher...

@@Rexcelot good luck getting people to adopt your odd definition of "Real AI™"; why must an AI create itself and create new AIs to be as intelligent or greater than humans? And your explanation of how AIs come up with thoughts is simply wrong, try learning about AI before you spout off. Large Language Models ingest vast amounts of data and adjust the weights between billions of artificial neurons in order to predict the next word (or pixel) in additional input. That forces them to build a representation of concepts and ideas and relationships so that their output in response to any prompt (advanced law degree exam, poetry writing, the Mona Lisa riding a unicycle) correct. Humans set up this training process but are absolutely not "inputting the data they want the AI to say"; they are heavily involved in later fine-tuning the model to generate text (and image) responses that are useful and not harmful for humans. How else do you propose a _language_ model become intelligent other than training on text produced by humans? You can imagine a robot learning to interact with the world on its own, but language is the core pathway through which we demonstrate most forms of intelligence (reasoning, story-telling, creativity, question answering, test-taking, etc.).

This is the first session of its kind, but I thought the Quick Fire segment at the back will probably not survive. Short answers work if you're doing pop trivia with Hollywood celebrities, but if you're going to be bringing top class thought leaders on your programme, it makes very little sense and value to ask for short, concise answers.

Interesting how only America brings this shit: we will get destroyed by UFO, then it’s pandemics, then nuclear wars now is AI so you pay a “protection” fee to then that create this fake narrative fake matrix to keep you scared of an invisible sick shit and you pay it without questioning. How dumb are you all? How asleep and hypnotized are you all???? Are you not tired of being lied to? Every century there is an invisible shit lie they make to access money from your hard working tax dollars and you stay and submit it annually? Satan. Both i.e future of A.I or humanity depends on humans! Finished in one sentence. So there is no need for this long conversation. Long is for those who don't understand on a first place, thus we need to extend it. Also those are poor who needs it long & complex when we can sum up in a simpler way ! Extended for those who don't understand : Though humans can forget the past, but they can't ignore completely either coz we are made with past or say we are build on it or say our past depends on our positive & negetive actions i.e the end results will depend on the actions we do in life or say our past actions shape who we are today & what's gonna come in future ! Be mindful, learn from your mistakes & try to make positive choices that will shape the future ! Hope we can all work together towards brighter future with anything & everything in nature being completely conscious ! Thankyou 'God bless ❤️🙏

I don't know what country you like in but I live in America. America is busy. Government contracts are being issued for AI and big data, migration and ESG reporting requirements. All of these items are WEF and UN Agendas to implement to Great Reset aka Build Back Better Agenda. He Talks about destroying democracy. The WEF is the greatest threat to democracy. Their new ESG financial system dictates what companies are allowed to exist, and sets all cultural norms by subverting cultures, forcing cultures to transition to their vision. I recommend reading their documents.

Speak for some, not all. Not everyone is incapable of peace & self direction. Perhaps our media can shift toward sharing the stories that model joy, positive action, collaboration. Some of us will despair, so it’s always been. Many will thrive. Imagine everyone thriving. Choose to thrive if you can. Ask for help. And remember - AI is a reflection of us. WE still have the power to choose also. We have the choice & power to turn away… let’s practice. 🙏🏻🕊

I enjoy Yuval Noah Harari speaking on AI and its potentials for both good and bad. In the many conversations he has, I wish he would begin to speak on the rapid decline of people not having face to face interactions in person. The digital age has physically separated us further than ever before. Just saying "hello" to someone has become awkward, as if you are invading someone's space. We are losing a vital part of being human...we rely on social media more than we speak to each other in person.

The world urgently needs a governance, consisting of reasonable people like Yuval Harari, who are standing above all this political and cultural nonsense we are currently confronted with. This is the only way to successfully master the challenges the future will bring us. The people who we have to deal with in the political spectrum are hopeless and only interested in power, money and themselves.

people like Harari and Schwab are people who only are interested in Power and Money. A world governance is the most terrible thing what could happen to us. It would be to much power concentrated in the hands of a few. Only free people and free and really Independent nations are the key.

Very worth the forty-plus minutes. Yuval is brilliant (I've read Sapiens) and thought provoking even though there is much he has written about that I don't agree with because of his views on history and mankind are, in my opinion, cherry picked to support his interpretations. However, he provokes intelligent thought no matter what.
