Gukesh had just lost his 5th round game to S.L. Narayanan, while Vaishali had scored an emphatic victory over Shamsiddin Vokhidov. The clash between Gukesh and Vaishali at the 6th round of the Qatar Masters 2023 promised to be an absolutely epic clash.
