I really enjoy watching Fanatik's product reviews, Dan has a way of going into detail without making it difficult to understand👌🏻

For gravel and XC, it’s quite easy to switch on/off the lock out manually without ride interruption. Like you say, this gadget is more suitable for downhill/enduro riders.

Just wait until we get electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment… that’s something I’d shell out for

They need to figure out a way to pull telemetry data like you can with the motion instruments solution. The goal is to personalize suspension per trail. you can't do that with this device as is. you can with the motion instrument tool, but its inconvenient for most. someone really needs to figure out a way to integrate the motional instruments solution into the forks and shocks. that would be a game changer for suspension and worth some extra weight
@tonyb97352 жыл бұрын
The problem with hoping it will convert your long-travel downhill focused bike into an agile cross-country bike that can climb is that you are forgetting the weight of the bike, and that's without adding extra weight of the device and batteries (front and rear) to it.
@FanatikBikeCo2 жыл бұрын
This is true. It's definitely not going to make your enduro bike into a cross country bike, but it'll make it pedal better. Thanks for watching! - Dan at Fanatik

The fact that all these live valves and flight attendants are like warts on a bike and not even integrated is a huge turn off, before you even consider if you need it. If you need a special fork and you can't just bolt it on, on a bike that you already have, might as well make it integrated somehow. A bike is a bunch of hollow tubes, surely you could figure it out.
@georgeforeman892 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, but this is the early adopter tax. I would imagine that in a few years it will be much better integrated. And I'm sure the technology will evolve in those years to be even better as well. Definitely worth the wait, IMO, and let other riders with deeper pockets than me figure out the kinks

Is just a climb switch, what about rebound?
@FanatikBikeCo2 жыл бұрын
Flight Attendant does not adjust rebound, just compression. You still adjust rebound as normal. - Dan at Fanatik

Hell… I would give it a go. After testing it, maybe. But it does beg the question: how much or when will it be enough? Are we riding on skills, or on aids? Hehehehehe.

Hey Dan. Do you think wireless brakes are in the near future?
@FanatikBikeCo3 жыл бұрын
Hey Manny. Not to my knowledge, and honestly I suspect not, but who knows. SRAM/Shimano plan stuff out many years in advance, so it could very well be something they're working on.

Will RockShox Flight Attendant be retrofittable to existing shocks, forks, & cranks? It'd be "smarter" it they did! 🤓
@FanatikBikeCo3 жыл бұрын
It will not be retrofit-able to older shocks and forks unfortunately
@victormalone38153 жыл бұрын
IMHO wireless MTBs doesn't mesh well with outdoor climates, they discharge faster on the cold and gets damage under the heat. This is just more stuff to fail, especially if you are doing 3-5hrs ride. What if remote doesn't pair, derailleur won't shift, dropper post won't disengage, and now shock dampers won't open haha... like the saying goes if aint broke don't fix it. They should just focus on making SMART forks and rear shock damping, use a gyro technology that could sense the angle of the bike whether uphill and down hill to have electric Open/Closed (or custom setting open and closed) damping/rebound.

It will be pretty sweet when that stuff is available aftermarket and not just on OEM builds. Fingers crossed its soon!
@pbanthonyv2 жыл бұрын
Just too expensive, like a lot of aftermarket stuff. Whole bikes usually aren't THAT obnoxiously priced if you think about it, but I have to hold my nose every time I have to pay full price for bling.

@@FanatikBikeCo Because you haven’t ridden it. You posed good questions, the same questions that I have but, I expected that your video had some experience in answering those questions or at least offered opinions on its performance. I look forward to a follow up video, ride on Bro!

@@DayInTheLifeOfAl Hence he said “join me on this thought experiment” but yes it would have been more awesome if someone with physical flight attendant experience could chime in on its value.
@FanatikBikeCo3 жыл бұрын
@@DayInTheLifeOfAl True true. Availability is extremely limited right now (word on the street is that the bike in this video is one of only a couple Flight Attendant equipped Enduros in the country right now) but we'll definitely be examining these questions in a more well rounded light once we can get our hands on a set to use. As far as its performance, from all accounts it seems like RockShox has really made a fully fledged product here, that does what its supposed to do very well. Whether that's worth the significant price increase? I don't know, but we'll definitely give you our feedback when we get a chance! Thanks for chiming in - Dan at Fanatik

I don’t think bike with good suspension designs would benefit much from this. Kinda seems like a bandaid for bikes with shit climbing platform.
@FanatikBikeCo3 жыл бұрын
I'd disagree. Think of it this way. Even if your bike has a great pedaling platform you still can't beat the efficiency of a fully locked out bike. It instantly makes your big squishy bike far more efficient depending on the terrain, but when the trail gets rough and you need all that suspension its open and ready to rumble in the blink of an eye and you don't even have to think about it! This system probably makes the most sense on big enduro bikes where you are riding varied terrain. If you are riding something that just goes straight up and then straight down, manually switching the lever on your shock is pretty easy, but if you are riding your big bike where its constantly up and down and all around Flight Attendant does it automatically without you needing to think about it!
