Sea of thieves holds a special place in my heart. It's where i met some of my best friends and it's where i can have spontaneous adventures. Just like Minecraft or RuneScape, it's a game i will always come back to. I hope they keep it alive for many more years.

I’ve always seen see if the eaves as a game I can come back too, it’s never been a game that you have to play the entire way through or a game that once you play the whole way through you’re done, it gives you everything that a pirates life can give you and I don’t think any pirate game could ever fully replace it.

I feel like there is a lot of unused potential in company voyages. I would love to see some LOTV style Voyages for the other Companies, maybe escorting a ship which is revealed on the Map to Tributes Peak for Gold Hoarders or sailing through the Shroud make a stop at Old Sailors Isle and grab some cargo from outside of the SoT, whilst fighting off GMU Ships. There are a lot of old assets, islands etc. which could be reused to create unique content.

I'd really love to see some sort of Royal Navy "security" or "patrol" vessels that you randomly encounter. Something where you would have different interactions with based your emissary, what factions youre part off, reputation for pirate an ship, how much loot you have aboard, etc. I think it would add that extra fun of trying to evade the authority while moving through the world. Make each sail not just in fear of encountering pirate thieves but possibly getting caught and having to pay fines or get rep lowered if captured by Royal patrols

We don't need another crossover or more tall tales right now. We just need fkn new content that's fun. It's so simple. All Rare has to do is get off their butts, stop showcasing stuff being added every season, and give us content every other week!! Every live service game does this. They don't go literally months apart from miniscule updates like Rare does. Give the emporium a break for awhile and start pumping out things to do. Bring back Arena, bring back Sea Dogs, add new world events, add more events like the legendary voyages week but make them for other factions, add a new multi ship hourglass mode, add a king of the hill mode for an island, add npcs that are scattered around the world that give random fetch quests, add fishing voyages. There is so so many ideas and content that could be capitalized on, but Rare takes forever to do literally anything!!! It's so frustrating, because i like the game, but i feel like they focus 90% of their budget on the emporium and 10% on actual gameplay.

I think the issue is, Rare keep switch what they want to do, they started Flamehearts story with 2 tall tales, then switched to adventures. So now a big chunk of the story is lost and unplayable and finishing with a Tall Tale will feel unhinged in a way. Also, this may be controversial, but we need a cataclysm, the seas need to be redone, islands moved, islands changed new islands, new regions, region blending for better transition between them. Why not a few volcanos out of the devils roar? I don't think it will fix the issue you raised in this video, not 100 percent, but it sure would be fun and new.

I suggest something similar to the Skull of Siren song, but making it something we all want to do. I suggest a new faction the Midnight Raiders, a bounty hunting faction that must sink as many players as possible before the sunrises. If a Midnight Raider sinks, their ship will become a marked shipwreck in the seas, and the whole server will have to race to collect clues and reach the shipwreck first, claiming a huge hoard of treasure. It’ll feel like a proper pirate adventure.

A night is only about 12 minutes in-game, so it would be a very short window and wouldn't they just get looted immediately when they get sunk since pve rarely sinks good crews? Something like it could be neat, but it would need work.

an Idea I had a while back was a Guild v Guild option, where two rival guilds play together on a single server similar the the World V World game mode in Guild Wars 2 so that there's a little more team coop/pvp element with increased rewards and benefits but with higher risk as a small conflict could snowball into an entire fleet on fleet combat

Welcome back, Ghost. Great material, as always. I think at this point, like you, I'm wondering if SoT2 is the only way forward. The lore has become so convoluted, that at this point it might be beyond repair -- at least if resolved properly. Lore, in a fundamental way, IS SoT (OK, maybe not for streamers, but that is a fragment of a fragment of the playerbase). The game and how the player becomes invested is built around it. To that, I would think the only crossover that would fit is Hook. That appears to be where the PotC/Dark Brethren narrative logically leads. But is that really the answer? I don't know. So, as you say, there needs to be new repeatable events and large areas to explore; and they need to be tied to a cogent narrative that players desire to immerse, invest themselves in -- "Oh look, Tasha's been cured from the Skeleton Curse" with little to no real explanation and nothing in-game related to it isn't the way.

I think it would be famtastic if they completed some sets, like having dark adeventurer knives, double varrels amd captaincy cosmetics, or the hunter set, or the regular sovereign, or add the missing pieces of the recolored sets. Also, more crests and banner purchasable with gold. Complete the trading cards company sets with the cismetics they are missing. And make the activities fell fun to repeat, incentivize players to replay something because they find it fun not because a grindy commendation is telling them to repeat it.

As a long time player, someone who calls SoT their favourite game, and someone who still plays it regularly. I hate to be one of those people, but the one thing that I think would truely bring new life into the game, is a new area of the map. For me, falling in love with the game, was when the seas were still a mystery to me. I'd get a treasure map and need to analyse the map to work out where to sail, to new islands unexplored. It made the world feel big. Nowadays, I get a treasure map and I can name the island, and know the direction to sail from where I am to get to it, all within about 1 second of looking at it. I still play like this. I feel proud of my own knowledge of the game I love (it's like having gained experience points irl for my play time), but if there was something NEW to explore, that I didn't know, that would feel really special. But I also feel like any update we get always falls flat mainly due to the drip-feed nature of it. If we get a Tall Tale, we all play it day 1 and go back to waiting for something new afterwards. If we DID get a bew region, 90% of players are just going to be up there for the first week or so, until it becomes just as familiar as the rest of the map and bores us. We really need somehow to have a huge content drop, like the Aniversary Update, adding new voyages, TTs, areas, world events, or new concepts entirely to really inject multiple months of new life into the game. It's clear that Seasons can't facilitate that much content in their timeframe, and I don't know how I'd fix that? I wouldn't say drop the seasons and do a yearly update because a year of no content would kill the game (7 months of Season 9 nearly got us there). But something needs to change either in the philosophy of Rare of in us as players to really bring this game to a new peak, otherwise it will keep dwindling with small boosts when a drip-feed season drops.

I've always thought a bounty system would be fun for SOT. Players could opt in at the beginning of a session and even place a bounty on their own crew to bring pvp to them. We need something new but also something for the pvpers in adventure who don't want to do HG. The quest board is being underutilized at the moment, bounties would be a perfect addition to it and a way for people to visit it. I've enjoyed the new weapons and grinding out the commendations but after that, what is there really to do (I've been playing religiously for 5 years)? I'm with you, Rare needs to stop messing around and get the Flameheart storyline wrapped up. Are we ever going to find out the fate of Pendragon?? Sure would be fun to rescue him from the sea of the damned but that's just me.

As a new ps5 player. Here is my take. I absolutely love the game, even pre ordered it, and now 15 levels away on a merchant faction till I hit pirate legend. But keep in mind almost reaching pirate legend literally took me only 1 month of gaming, maybe less if you have no life. I was never interested in the Tall Tales because to me their a high risk no gain sob story of various characters. Quests wise I've done almost everything their is to do. From digging treasure, fighting skeletons, conquering forts and and enemy bases, and even shrines and siren treasurys. I'm the type of person who consistently needs new stuff to do to stay hooked on a game. Seeing that season 13 still needs almost 2 more months to come. I'm in a long wait. Also season 12 took me literally 2 weeks to complete if wasent hard.

Heres what I suggest SOT2 all items earned in 1 come over as archived items, and forever time limited to SOT1 In two, proper build on engine, new map. And most importantly, FIX HIT REG! 120 FOV would also be life changing. I play other games where 120 FOV is common place, I jump on SOT and I feel like im looking through a telescope. My current problems with sot are not having something new to do with the current season I did the season pass because I do all of them and immediately went back to playing other games because this update to me is do what you did before again but now you have some new stuff. Sea of thieves use to be my main game now it's just one of those games I come back to play when it's updated and I don't see that changing I am excited for season 13 so maybe that will keep me playing for longer 14 won't. The story just feels like a mess right now getting rid of stuff changing stuff making it up as we go along or leaving on dam cliffhangers. I think we (old players) need to be careful. Sot is in a good state right now, but we've played too much thats all our problem. No matter how much content rare put in the game, after a while all veteran players will ask for more content. this is how i see. Nowadays, if you dont have huge updates like fortnite every 15 days, people will complain no matter what.

I have also been disappointed with SoT lately, I bought the game for season 8 and hourglass, thinking that it would be woven into the story I had heard so much about, only to find season 8 was pretty much the end of story driven content. Monkey Island was not for me, seasons 9, 10, and 11 brought nothing new to the table as far as things to do or story evolutions, and what little story occurred was skipped over or retconned. Its been 2 years of stagnation for SoT, in my opinion, and they really need to recapture that feeling that the game is a living, breathing world again.

I don’t think sea of thieves needs a sequel. Open-world sandbox games that are continually updated don’t need a “#2.” Take overwatch for example, though not an open world game it was continually updated and Overwatch 2, I’d argue, killed the game.

The games 6 years old, content is eventually going to slow down. This video had virtually no point other than to complain. Not sure where you're getting "shit on the game" from. I think I construct a very fair and balanced argument and if you've watched any of my other content you'll know 99% of the time I'm very positive and always end on a good note. I'm a big advocate for SoT, always have been always will be. That doesn't mean I'm not going to discuss my feelings. This video isn't me "complaining", it's discussing the way forward and I'm giving my honest opinions. A lot of us creators have been with the game since launch, have met the developers many times, and are privy to behind the scenes knowledge surrounding how developments going. I never said Sea Of Thieves isn't for me anymore, nor do I talk about it. I'm a positive advocate for the game but won't sugar coat how I or many others feel. We only want the best for SoT, it all comes out of a place of love!

I want to casually play this game with my wife. I've spent over a thousand dollars in the Emporium- I've supported this game financially far beyond the initial price. When gaming makes my blood-pressure rise too high, I quit. I'm an older gamer, yes, and PvP isn't my first love. To get me back in the game, and back to spending $1,000's, there have to be dedicated PvE or private servers. I don't give a rat's ass about "but it's the game", or "that's the point", it's about MONEY. If Rare want's me to heat up my credit card, and keep it glowing-hot, that's what it's going to take to get my family back into the game. Call me anything you want- I could care less. Rare, I have a large disposable income, and I'm retired, so I can game all day long. Want $$$? There are tens of thousands of us that would pay extra for more relaxed, casual gameplay. Sea of Thieves has some of the most fun gameplay of all the 534 games I own (just on Steam, not counting GamePass, Epic, Amazon, GoG, etc.), and THE BEST FISHING of any game, even dedicated fishing games can't touch. I haven't played since December of '22, and I bet Rare misses my money... I bought nearly everything in the store, and of course bought a 2nd of everything for my wife. We both comment frequently that we truly miss the game. It's sad that there's no place for us anymore.

Expanding the map is all because xbox one cant handle it. The servers are shit so abandoning xbox one could give 1 more ship a server. They dont need to make a whole new game. They just need to improve servers abandon old gen and maybe even change from unreal 4 to 5

For context, the can add a new region, they choose not to because of how spread out ships would become - old xbox technology can't handle more than 6 ships on a server (and it's been struggling at the moment with that). In terms of Unreal, as I mentioned in my video Sea Of Thieves doesn't run on Unreal 4, it runs on a bespoke Unreal 4. They built the engine from scratch, which is why it would take copious amounts of work to upgrade. If they started with a blank canvas for a SoT though... Then things get interesting. Though they have said it's not the engine that's limiting them.
