Appreciate the clear headed take calling out the inefficiencies baked into the traditional b2b model. And I think you are on to something there. Another factor may be shrinking solutions markets due to the technical specialists internally building out their own solutions more and more as reliable ai-assisted development becomes more deeply adopted in-house. Instead of a conversation with technical sales agent they converse with their llm and outcome is a working solution or at least a functional proof-of-concept they can iteratively refine into a ideal solution superior to anything targeted at general purpose use cases that would have been sold to them otherwise.

Glad you enjoyed it. Very interested to see how the llm stuff fits in long term…

Musk with Tesla isn't the only one who has implemented this sales model. Henry Ford did the same with Ford Motor Company and also with a hospital he created in fact. So and nothing much has changed since then. The difference being the one who come from technical disciplines tend to have these sales models, business folks on the other hand seem to attempt to extract maximum value at all costs from the end customer preventing it. At least that's what I see

Plz excuse the grammar, I can't edit it on my phone 😅

Its definitely interesting how it seems cyclical. At least in terms of the whole simplicity/complexity thing. I think its important to keep in mind my lense - I studied something technical (and wish I explored some business in conjunction honestly) and then I started off in just engineering. I'm less comfortable with the maximizing the value extraction from customers thing. TBH my mind always goes towards efficently. How can I provide the same (or better!) service for a lower cost? Thus both parties "win" more.

@@evanswildrants I get what you mean-it could stem from a better grasp of local vs. global maxima, with technical minds often aiming for long-term gains (global maximum) while traditional business focuses on short-term wins (local maximum). But, like most things, it’s likely a mix of factors, mindset, training, and even dogmatic business philosophies

Noronna, legit my favorite ski brand like ever. Am very tall so the cuts fit me well. Pretty sure this is their “warmwool” product. Join their outlet membership program, you have to give your email but they don’t really spam you and you get access to the “closed” outlet.
