Frontiers felt like a love letter to the entire franchise. It referenced everything. Super was finally raw again. The characters are all ready to grow up. Eggman finds a family. If it had been the last game, i believe it would've been a high note.

“Frontiers is someone today’s Sonic Adventure” HOLY SHIT. HAVING JOINED THE FANDOM THROUGH THE MOVIE, THIS IS LITERALLY ME. Even tho I was like 18 at the time so I was basically having a kid’s Sonic fan awakening while at the same time being fully aware of the fandom shenanigans, the games’ reputations, having gotten just about all my Sonic knowledge from wikis and whatnot, on top of pretty much the whole game getting spoiled for me anyway😅 But despite all that, Frontiers was indeed unlike any Sonic thing, if not anything period, I’d ever played before. I love total freedom in games, I love cool lore bits (and really, the whole story was the start of a brand new chapter lore-wise so that DOES kinda help with the “all my lore knowledge came secondhand” thing), I love kickass music, I love snappy combat, I love chill minigames, I love when silly things happen (looking at you, emerald dance) and ofc, I love Sonic. Frontiers may as well be the prelude to THE game of my dreams. I could ramble on and on, really. But what I’m saying is, Frontiers is a great new start, both for me as a fan and for Sonic. And even if he still seems to have a long way to go, I get a good feeling that this is a journey I’ll be proud to follow along with. Especially with fans like you around, Hype Guy!

There's something to be said about how they listened to the fans and gave us what we wanted. Of course, fans are not game devs, but we know what is fun and they can take that and turn it into a fantastic game. Frontiers is certainly a testament to that. I think its important to give Frontiers credit where its due. Yes it may have its flaws but Frontiers literally SAVED the franchise. If Frontiers flopped Sonic, at least in the gaming side, wouldve actually been cooked. As Mr Fadel said, Frontiers is some kids Sonic Adventure, yes its hella flawed but in 10 years time those who grew up with Frontiers will sing the praises endlessly and its a good thing they have such a good game to be nostalgic about. Now I personally see many MANY flaws in Frontiers which for sure can be fixed in the future but youd have to be ignorant if you flat out ignore how it saved Sonic.

It wasn’t just Sonic that defeated the End, but Sonic Team as well. They were Here to Find Their Flame so they can Break Through it All and remain Undefeatable; all while holding on to a One Way Dream! They were wondering if the whole world would know their names as they were dancing with destiny, there was no more compromise since this was surely do or die, they had to unleash the beast inside as they were hanging on to the other side trying to reach far across these new frontiers. This game single-handedly made Sega increase the budget for Sonic Games(you can see by Shadow Generations), increase the members in Sonic Team, made us trust Sonic Team again, did justice to the current voice actors, brought back the tone and writing we've been wanting for a decade and made Sonic relevant again to the videogame community. I think honest to god if Frontiers flopped, the only thing we would've seen be actually good would be Dream Team because that's just completely unrelated and was handled entirely by Apple. In the world where Frontiers was bad and did horribly, I think it would've been the same world where Kishimoto couldn't get the delay and so Frontiers released in 2021. Superstars would've probably been cancelled or brought to 2022. And IF they did Adventure remakes, I think it would've been handled by a very different team. Sonic X Shadow Gens wouldn't even exist. Point is, games wise, it'd be a very dark future. Frontiers, love it or hate it, really was the end all be all for the games.

That's what I've been saying about Sonic Frontiers: can you imagine how much all of its ideas translates INCREDIBLY well to other games they could play when they grow up? Children playing Frontiers are going to enjoy character action games like DMC or Bayonetta, dig the music / vibes of games like Nier Automata and Metal Gear Revengance, and probably just enjoy the world of platforming across the board. Say what you want about Frontiers, but damn would it be so AWESOME to have this game as one of your first game experiences ever.

I honestly prefer realistic looking environments in my Sonic games or a cross between realism and fantasy. I don't get why Sega has Classic and Modern Sonic because from my point of view, they want Modern Sonic as the serious, realistic environments Sonic, and Classic Sonic for the lighter stories and fantasy environments but that all goes out the window with Sonic Dream Team. Both types of environments can co-exist but I think they should have Classic Sonic for fantasy and Modern Sonic for realism/inbetween realism and fantasy

Regardless if Frontiers was good or bad in people's eyes, if this game didn't do well future games might have been royally screwed. I will admit that Sonic Team need ALOT of work to produce a top of the line Sonic game because Frontiers had alot of issues and Final Horizon only improved little of those issues while also creating new ones. Sonic and Shadow generations will show if they learned from their mistakes or they're still having issues. Let's hope it's inbetween.
