The term “Quantum yield” didn’t come from a modern marketing department but from photochemists in the early 1930s. It’s the ratio of how likely a light-emitting process will actually eject a photon each time it is stimulated to do so since there are other ways for an excited system to dissipate the energy. It’s never 100 % but the closer the better usually.

Can confirm. Quantum yield is a term that can be used in reference to any possible transition between states in quantum mechanics. For example, that includes flourescence, phosphorescence, ionization of atoms, the individual interactions between atoms when molecules have chemical reactions, really anything. As I understand it, using "quantum yield" instead of "efficiency" was a lot more precise and scientific. Pretty neat that they used it. Granted, it also sounds like a sci-fi marketing term, which their marketing devision probably liked.

@dbw1405 4 жыл бұрын
@@hadesik Those weren't random colours actually, he marked pink right where pink spectrum began, and if you that's orange between the end of the yellow spectrum and begining of the pink one hence the orange mark, and teal in is in between the blue and the green spectrum and that's right where I think he marked a bit too right(might be because the circle he made was a bit small.) But anyhow, if you actually increase your brightness and glare at the graph before he used the black marker, he didn't really mark any random colours, those were about as close he could've marked approximately.
