Agree, I hope those companies specially Unilever and Nestle are nationalised as they have been supporting a criminal regime. And Ukraine has rightly nationalised the Russian-owned Sense Bank. And all the money and assets belonging to Russia/Russians should be used to rebuild the Ukraine. The Russians started this war so they should paid reparations like Germany did.

I share the zero sympathy for those that stayed and are having their assets siezed. However, what's good for the goose is sauce for the gander. And their own precident. *SO, all* russian investments, assets and buisnesses should face the same reality. Sieze the yaughts, bank accounts, stocks, hard assets, all of it. It can defray the costs of sending Ukraine aid and/or be liquidated to fund the rebuilding. No, freezing assets pending the end of sanctions isn't siezing. And close all shipping lanes, air, land and sea, to anything going to or from russia in every nations respective territory. Regardless of what nation's flag flies on the shipper.

The flip view to this is that by encouraging trade within Russia, the west was making new connections and generating more global understanding - from McDonalds to Mercedes there should have been a sense of more 'oneness' across the cultural borders. Unfortunately, Putin's 'leadership' has brought all of this goodwill to nought.
@jockauld3966

Laughable, what RF citizens are going to be buying Mercedes? What Western citizens will be buying them come to that? They are out of reach of most normal people, only for elite's? @@johnzuijdveld9585 In the USA, congress needs to get back to full speed after session recess. In other countries, they need to pass through parliaments. This is the complication that is rarely mentioned in news. Every one has a Maginsky Act but few, if any, have actually paved through the due process complexities (this is thenhold to)so assets can be convered immediately to cash.And, no media really talk about what steps need to be taken to get from A to B. The very laws that protect out rights withn property apply to every erson, even the sanctioned person.

Russian Federation is high risk investment for any assets in that country. Both domestic and foreign assets will be seized by Kremlin Mafia anytime they can. Getting money out of The Russian Federations territory does not happen over long periods for anyone including Mafia elites. Putting all wealth into a bag and leaping from a high window near a border seems to be the best hope of getting their money out RF territory for many Oligarchs.

To some degree I disagree with some of the statements made in this news report. More than one large international company operating in Russia was being thrown into a set of ethical dilemmas during sanctions. Sanctions which ended up causing suffering only among the poorest of the poor working without a living wage there in Russia too. Sanctioning and overtaxing of minorities or of the large international companies employing them rarely helps anyone. I do not know the answers to helping lift people from minorities out of poverty. People from minorities living in poverty who always get conscripted into a being called in a nation legitimate military first. No matter how often and no matter how many poor human beings with less choices often get conscripted there.

How is giving Russia a discount on property going to be a sanction? Should there be an incentive for Russia to slow down the war in Ukraine and bring it to an end? It seems like an immediate end to this war would be not be a good thing. Am I wrong about thinking that? Would it be better for both sides to negotiate and end or for Ukraine to force Russia out?
@johnzuijdveld9585
@johnzuijdveld9585 9 ай бұрын
You're missing some information! 1)No-one is giving Russia a discount on their assets within Russia! This is Russia confiscating those assets, so effectively those assets are now worthless to their previous owners! 2) What proposal do YOU have that would serve as an incentive for Russia to 'slow down' (whatever THAT means) or to end this war? When Spewtin🤮 first came to power he said many times that he would bring glory/respect back to Russia and that he wanted to return Russia to the borders they controlled as the USSR. Can it be any plainer for you to see that Spewtin🤮 does not and will NOT agree to any slowdown/or peace deal permanently, he would only agree to that to give him time to rebuild and then he WILL continue to try to devour Ukraine, then Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania then Poland and if he could manage that he would like East Germany back also! Kapish? 3) The ONLY way that an immediate end to the war would be good is if Russia withdrew ALL its forces from Ukraine and returned its occupied Ukrainian territories back into Ukrainian control AND agreed to pay reparations for the damage it's caused AND for the War Crimes it committed, INCLUDING handing over Spewtin to face trials in Den Hague! 🤮 . . . How soon do you think THAT'S going to happen? 🤔
@natalieturko4808
@natalieturko4808 9 ай бұрын
You can't negotiate with a terrorist, and Russia has shown its true colors by refusing Zelenskyy's 10 point peace plan outright. Their aim is to control Ukraine, wipe out the Ukrainian identity, and if that isn't possible, then to destroy it.
